Hi there again, sorry I hadn't replied. Yesterday was the 34th anniversary of my dads' passing and a couple of the radio stations did a little Memorial Tribute in his honor. It was nice, made us feel all goose bumpy you know? Anyway wish I could help you find the church your seeking, but sorry.... Good luck and good searching.

Hi..
Time does go on. My mom passed 38 years ago,and my dad 32 years. It does not seem that amount of time has gone by, but it has.
If you happen to find out, about the church, please e-mail me.

For sure. Sorry I took so long to respond, my pc running short on memory and dialup is very slow. Anyway, gonna be in your neck of the woods Friaday the 13th, my brother plays with Tejano band Aventura and playing at the Cattleman Club on Roland. You like tejano? Well just a FYI, our mother will be coming along with us, if you and your wife, girlfriend, or whatever applies would like to meet some probable extended family, please come and enjoy the show. I promise you won't be disappointed. I'll even bring along a photo of my grandparents and others. Might be interesting to see if there's a resemblance or if there is even a relation. Don't you think? Anyway just thought I'd toss the idea at you, gotta go. Hope to see ya Friday night. August 1st was 34 years since my dad died, he was also musician, killed 1 night after dance in Alice Texas, some radio stations remember him yearly and invite us to speak on his anniversary.

I think that the church in Matamoros has some baptismal records. I know that there is microfilm at the Corpus Christi Public Library that has births, deaths, and marriages from Matamoros. I am also from Alice, TX and I'm doing research on my wife's great grandfather Santos Garcia Solis from El Soliseño. He was born in 1882. I believe his father's name was Isidoro Solis and mother was either Graviela Garcia or Maria Luisa Garcia. He has four 1/2 silblings; Jesus, Adolfo, Refugio and Guadalupe (f.) Vela also from Soliseño. He came to Kingsville in the early 1900's and worked for the railroad.

hi there john vela, i'm just getting around to checking my emails but i was intrigued by something you wrote. you say you're researching family from soliseno, your g-father worked for the railroad, you or he lived in kingsville, and he had 1/2 siblings? you know my gfather was born in 1905, supposedly in soliseno also, he moved to refugio where he and my gmother were married and started their family but eventually ended up in bishop texas, where my daddy was raised along with his siblings, and where my gfather also worked for the railroad. what a coincidence right? email me and we might can get together as i live in corpus christi now. my father was manuel soliz, el macho was what his friends called him. go to the tejano roots hall of fame in alice, his pictures should be there.

Hi Diana!, Was your g-fathers name Emilio Solis from Refugio? He is related, but I have not found the link yet. I know that Juan Jose Solis the original grantee of porcion 107 in Camargo was the person with his bro-in-law Jose Hinojosa who started El Soliseño and La Palma ranches back in the early to mid 1700's. Juan Jose Solis is my 5th Great-Grandafather in law and I'm also related on the Longroria side through my mom.
