Nimrod Bates Wheeler
Succumbs at Booneville

Nimrod Bates Wheeler, retired farmer and cotton ginner of Hermitage died Sunday in Booneville. He had been in failing health for some time, and was 76 at the time of his death.

He is survived by a son, Bates Wheeler of Warren; one sister, Mrs. J. W. Russell of Warren and 2 brothers, Joe of Hermitage and Louis of Darien Georgia.

He was a member of the Hermitage Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Mr. Wheeler were conducted at the church at 2:30 Tuesday by Rev. Rolla Nixon and Rev. Gerald W. Trussell. Interment was in the Holly Springs Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Johnny Carr, J. T. Saeler, Carl Thompson, J. I. Garrick, Carl Batie, Johnnie Cruce, Charles Stewart, and Clyde Neely. Honorary pallbearers were Russell Colson, Clifton Castleberry, Cary Wooley, Wiley Hairston, Harvey Rowland, J. S. Creed, Charlie O'Rear, Steve Anders, Wheeler Ederington, Will Ferguson, M. O. McClendon, and G. B. Colvin.

In charge of flowers were Mrs. Jimmy Russell, Mrs. J. T. Saeler, Mrs. Gary Wooley, Mrs. John Cruce, Mrs. Charles Stewart, Mrs. Clyde Neely, and Mrs. Mamie Thompson.

Can anyone tell me the father of Nimrod Bates Wheeler? Is it by chance a Nathaniel Wheeler who married Averilla Gorsuch? Does anyone have a link between Nimrod and his father, Nathaniel, who served in the Rev. War from MD?
