Am looking for more information concerning John M. CHILDRESS who is buried at Riverside Cemetery in Adams Co. John was born in IN in 1836. He and his parents JOEL and DOLLY (un) CHILDERS/CHILDRESS moved to Adair Co., MO and he is listed in the 1860 Census there. He married ca 1857 to a woman named Lucinda (un). They had a daughter Allice who was 2 yr. at the 1860 Census. They may have had a son named Charles F. also. He and his brother William (my great grandfather) served in the MO State Militia CAV during the Civil War. By 1900 John was in Arapaho Co. Any information on John and his family would be appreciated.

Hello John and Lonna,

I've been out of the loop for awhile but have an update on Wm. A Cupples researcher sent me info that she'd found LDS info that William T. Childress married Rose L. Cupples March 4, 1891 in Centerville, Appanose Co., Iowa. Rose was born Oct 1871 in Iowa. She'd also lived in Prairie Town, Queen City Co., MO. This William was in (possibly born in) Unionville, MO in 1869.

Could this be a connect with your John Edward Childress born May 14, 1872?

Barbara,

I had found the Childers(Childress) line in Appanose Co IA in the census records. My John Edward had a brother named William and he would have been born ca 1869, and I think he probably was born in Unionville. Would like to correspond with you more. It's been a while since I've done any work on my Childress line, but I keep looking. I've found a few items since you and I last corresponded. That's been at least two years ago or longer. You can reach me at bobalon@centurytel.net. Thanks so much for posting your find. Lonna
