I am a Defenbaugh and would like to expand my knowledge of the family. My father, Clifford Harold Defenbaugh just died at age of 92. I was born in Streator, Il and grew up in Pontiac, IL
Have traced part of the family tree back to the 1600's and found several different spellings of the name. Ray Defenbaugh mentioned in a previous posting is my cousin. Please contact me at placrews@hotmail.com If you use my email please type Family Tree in the subject line or it will not be opened. Thanks.

was there anywhere a german orgin for the name Defenbaugh
and an americanizing of the name?
for me it looks like that it was once the name Tiefenbach.
if a german would say this name an american would write it down in the way like Defenbaugh is written. it means "deep creek". but only a guess by myself....
or do do you have a country for orgin of this name and his meaning?
