WATERS/BARBER CONNECTION

We are seeking background on a possible collateral line to our Waters family tree that involves the Barber family.

In the first half of the 19th century Amanda Waters married a Lyman Barber, who per the 1850 census for Easton, Washington County, NY was born in NY about 1805. In this same census his farm is next to the farm of Elijah & Betsey Waters and the two farms are succeeded by the farm of Daniel Barber - born in Rhode Island about 1815, and on which farm, John Barber, born in Rhode Island +/- 1770, also lived. Moreover, Elijah's wife Betsey/Elizabeth, was a Barber, born +/- 1793 in Rhode Island where John Barber was born.

Living in the next town [maybe it was Jackson] was another John Barber, born in NY +/- 1798 and he had a son Lyman born in NY +/-1829.

We believe the elder John Barber was the parent of the younger John Barber, the older Lyman Barber and Betsey (Barber) Waters; the father or grandfather to Daniel Barber; and the grandfather of the younger Lyman Barber.

Additionally, we suspect Amanda Waters may have been a sister to Elijah Waters.

Any assistance in developing the background of this group of Barbers would be very much appreciated.

Thank you and best regards,

Dale Wark
