Wassel Bulcavage, 91, died Monday evening at Hometown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Tamaqua.
Born in Trenton, Oct. 14, 1916, he was a son of the late Stephen and Helen Falatovich Bulcavage. He lived in Trenton until 1968, then in Lansford, then in Hometown until 1989.
He graduated from Delano High School in 1934.
He was employed as a coal miner by trade in local colleries.
He was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Michael, at birth; brothers, Frank, Joseph, Stephen and John Bulcavage; sisters, Anne Slopeck and Julia Greybush.
Survivng are a son, Wes Bulcavage, Long Island, N.Y.; daughters, Shirley Bender, Norristown, Beverly VanKooten, Bethlehem, Jayne Skavery, Quakake; a brother, Peter Bulcavage, Bethlehem; sisters, Eva Kurzinsky, Mahanoy City and Mary Bulcavage, Trenton, N.J; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Divine Liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Mahanoy City, where a white dove will be released at the graveside in his memory. Friends may call the church from 9 a.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to "St. Anne Shrine", c/o Mrs. Fely Quilo, 4290 Vassar Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017.
