I have gathered all I can and do not know if any of it is a match other than: Esther
Dumas born about 1704 in Pamunkey River, of
New Kent County, Virginia (some say Louisa County) m. John
Jones.
Some say that John
Jones, according to the St. Peter's
Parish register, was baptized in May 1706 in
New Kent County. He had sons named Benjamin, Adam and Godfrey and perhaps others. His brothers were probably Benjamin and Richard
Jones. A 1764 deed in Granville County, North Carolina involves sale of land to John
Jones of "
New Kent County, Virginia" and he was probably in Granville by 1747.

Court sessions were great events. When gathering in and about the court house during the court term, citizens of the county transacted personal business, and met their friends. The court house was the natural gathering spot ... stores were also attracted to the court house area, and soon, towns grew up with the court house as nucleus. Minutes of these early courts may be headed by the date and location, i.e. at the home of John
Jones.
The following are three entries made before the Declaration of Independence. The minutes of July 1774 read: "Friday morning court met according to adjournment. Present, Charles Medlock, The worshipfull James Pickett, William Bluett, Esqrs Ordered that Benjamin
Dumas be appointed overseer of the road, in the room of John Mask Junior." (The meeting was in John Mask's home.)
The minutes of January 1775 read: "Ordered that a road be laid out the nearest and best way from Huwarry to Anson Court House to cross Pee Dee at William Pickett's Plantation and falling into the Salisbury road at Savanah Creek and that William Pickett, James Hutchins, David
Dumas, Benjamin
Dumas, Cornelius Robertson, John Mask Junr., James Pickett, John Ingram, Owen Ingram, Moody Ingram,
Abraham Belew, Nathaniel Ashley and Shadrick Denson, be a Jury to lay out the same and make report there of to the next court." (Esther would have been age 71 that year; Benjamin, Jr. would have been age 46 that year).
