Printed in the Stevens Point Daily Journal, Friday January 5, 1951, Page 1

Walter BARNSDALE, a pioneer in the movie industry since 1896, died Thursday afternoon at his Plover home at the age of 83.

Mr. BARNSDALE was born May 14, 1867 at Donnington, England, a son of the late Richard and Mary BARNSDALE. He came to this country in the late 1880's after receiving his apprenticeship certificate from a locomotive shop in
England, and lived for a time with his uncle, George BARNSDALE, who lived east of Plover. He was married May 18, 1891 at Stevens Point to Kate BARNSDALE, George and Sara BARNSDALE's daughter.

Mr. BARNSDALE took a film of former Troop I of Stevens Point at Camp Douglas, WI in 1917, and willed that film, at his death, to that group of World War I soldiers. Although his name is unknown in the movie industry today, he pioneered in that field and made important contributions to it through his inventions.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, George of Pocatello, ID, Frank at home, Walter Jr., east of Plover, and Richard, Adel, IA; two daughters, Mrs. Leroy GORDON, Nelsonville, and Mrs. S. W. BROOKS, Chippews Falls; a brother, Albert, in England, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Three daughters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Monday at Boston Funeral Home, and interment will be in the Plover Cemetery.

NOTE: This fellow is mentioned in later years Troop I reunion articles as an honorary member.
