Hi Ian
You are probably well ahead of me but just in case!
Found 2/3 different sources but they all agreed on the following: The Maitland of 648 tons -
sailed from Spithead 29.06.1846
arrived Hobart 27.10.1846 with a detachment of the 65 Regt. and 297? Convicts
sailed from Hobart to Port Phillip/Geelong ?
arrived Geelong 09.11 1846
Discharged 291? convicts on 24.11.1846!!
All very interesting but it doesn't give you the answer you are looking for. The surest source will be the Surgeon's report on the journey, problem is that these are held by the NAA in Kew london and not on line, I have transcribed a couple for my own family and found them very detailed and explicit. The direct way but not the easiest nor cheap would be to hire a professional researcher to find the relevant report and copy it for you. Cheers Denis
