My convict Ann has no surname!!

Classification: Query
Surnames: Ferris
I found Ann Ferris listed in the Convict Muster 1837. She was assigned to Joseph Ferris in Sydney, having arrived aboard the Surrey in 1833.
There is no Ann Ferris listed aboard the Surrey 1833, so I think that she married Joseph Ferris in Australia.
I cannot find any marriage between them although I have found the birth of son James in 1835.
My ancestors's death cert states she was born overseas, the daughter of Ann Ferris, so it's likely Ann the convict had a small child with her.
Because of the timing I think Ann would have started at the Female Factory before being assigned.
Can anyone tell me if there is a searchable database for the Female Factory and for convict assignments (although a bit tricky without a surname!), or have any suggestions for finding Anns original surname?
Thanks,
Alison
