In our family as with a lot of Polynesian families, names become interchangeable in gender. Although I am not aware of any instances, the name Saimasina has pretty much stayed male oriented. There is another name that is similar to it that is tied to a female. She was a queen of Samoa and her name is Salamasina. She was the adopted daughter and taupou of Tuia'ana Tamalelagi and Vaito'ifaga. It is said that Samoa parted into four houses from her line or "na tufa'i fa ai Samoa." She is not tied to the Su'apa'ia line directly, but knowing how Polynesian family trees go it is not beyond the realm of posssibility.
