My fathers surname is Udle and he immigrated from Canada. Tracing his lineage I was able to find the first Udle in Canada, but there the line stops and I can't figure out where he comes from. As the name does not appear in
England, which is where he sailed from. I later began to suspect that he had never lived in
England, but rather had just passed through on his way from Norway to
America. I was talking to a lady in my Norwegian class and she showed me her ancestry book. In it, it listed a community called Udlesvang, which I have been told translates to Udles meadow or field. This was the first link back to Norway and I am interested in learning if my relatives came from there. If anyone can provide any information about Udlesvang (or Udleslang) or the Udle name in Norway, I would appreciate it.
