Hi, I am interested in the TREDINNICK family in Bolivia and Brazil. A relative of mine, William Greenslade TREDINNICK, left Cornwall, England and settled in Bolivia sometime around 1900. Can anyone tell me how to trace the family? I believe that the Bolivian ambassador to Brazil was a TREDINNICK but he died about a year ago.

I AM WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO OBTAIN ADDRESSES AND OR PHONE LISTINGS IN BOLIVIA? I feel sure they must keep some sort of records, am seeking information on the Powell family that left Texas in early 1900 and fled to Bolivia. Apparently a wagon train with valuable cargo, that was treasure of the emperor of Mexico, Maxmillian, this train was robbed and the treasures were hidden in the Castle Gap Mountains in Texas....supposedly buried in Caves. The family story is that Thomas Powell and his sons apparently may have found some of this treasure and thought if they would sell out the business and go to Bolivia so they could experience the good life, this family, a man, his wife Louisa Johnson Powell and their children just dissapeared and were never heard from again. We have contacted the Bolivian consulate seeking only documentation that would show us the Powell family was there or not. They have not been too helpful........just am wondering if anyone anywhere knows how to obtain any information like this, please help

Central Records?

Hi all,
Does anyone know if there is a localized or central place where records are kept in Bolivia? Would they be in individual cities? or would they be centralized in the capital?
I need records on my lost family and whatever descendants that may still be living there, and I don't know where to start looking for them (the records).

How to get information on the Powell Family?

Can anyone on the board or or the list tell me how to get information about a family who went to Bolivia in the early part of the 1900s? The family name is Powell, father was Thomas J., mother was Louisa, and several of their children. According to what the remaining family has heard, the family home was burned, the parents killed, and the children married into the Bolivian culture.
Does anyone know.... Is there a way to find out more or something concrete on just what occurred, when and where? We have contacted the consulate, with little results. If you can tell me where else to turn, I'd appreciate it.

Powell family murdered?

For a long time, I've heard that Thomas Jefferson Powell, born 1851 in Texas, and wife, Louisa Johnson Powell born 1850 Alabama, went to South America, most probably to Bolivia, near the turn of the century (1920-30). I thought that someone had made a mistake, that nobody really went there at that time.
Today, I came across a letter stating that a researcher had received information that the rumor was, in fact, true. That the Powell family had traveled to Bolivia, and were murdered there. No dates, no further information, and she has since passed away so I can't ask her.
This couple were married and had children in Texas, so they would have had to leave from there, if it's true. How would they have traveled? I'm completely at a loss as to how it would have even been accomplished..
Does anyone have any sort of information? on such a happening? Has anyone even heard of this family name? Powell. Is there anyway, any place, that I can check to find out if it happened, when, and where?
Why would be interesting, too.

Mi abuela, Teodora Montalvo, nacida en 1914 en La Paz o Yaco (y fallecida en La Paz en 1981) tenía un hermano (nombre desconocido). Sus padres, Francisco Montalvo y Felicidad Zacarías eran de Yaco, Depto. de La Paz. Me cuenta mi familia que Francisco y Felicidad fallecieron dejando solos a sus dos hijos. Se dice que sus padrinos se encargaron de los niños y se los llevaron separándolos. Mi abuela no volvió a ver nunca a su hermano.

Si alguien tiene alguna historia familiar a la de mi abuelita, por favor, comuníquese conmigo. Estoy estancada en esa parte de mi genealogía. Ya he revisado los microfilms de Yaco y no los encontré ahí. Vivo actualmente en Estados Unidos.
