Hi- I am looking for any information on the Ineich family. I am trying to put together the family history. My relatives came from Alsace-Lorraine. What region of Alsace I do not know?

Most of my immediate relatives live in Syracuse NY area. My father is Leo Ineich born in 1941. He grew up in the East Syracuse area. My grandfather was Felix Ineich born in 1894. He worked in the rail yards of East Syracuse most of his life. They lived on a farm in Manulis NY.

My great grandfather was Julius Ineich b. 12/11/1866. My great grandmother was Constantine or Constana Ineich (Foltrauer) b.9/16/1866. My great grandma name is listed differently on her tombstone compared to public records. This is all the information I have on my great grandparents except for a picture that my parents have of them.

I know that my grandfather had several siblings: Alfred Ineich of Auburn NY, Clara, Edward Ineich. My grandfather, Felix Ineich was born in Olean NY. I remember him speaking fluent German. My grandfather died when I was about ten years old so I don't remember much about him.

Dear Tim,
I'm not positive--but I think Alfred Ineich of Auburn--was your grandfather's cousin--not his brother. Alfred was my "grandfather-in-law" and I've done a little work on the family--as well as we have the sheet that--was it Raymond?--put together many years ago.
I think you and I touched base briefly several years ago. If you are interested I would love to communicate and we could figure out some more "Ineich Info".
Thanks.
Mary Ann Hinkle-Ineich

M.Hinkle-Ineich: Sorry my name is not Tim. I am female in my forties. My grandfather was Felix Ineich. My great grandfather is Julius Ineich. When Raymond did the family history I was a little girl so I never saw the whole history of the Ineich family. I do have a small genogram of my immediate Ineich family that my mother gave me from Raymond's book. It just lists my aunts, uncles, and cousins. I will love to chat more!!!!!

oops sorry on the name! I think I saw the "tin" and I know there IS a "Tim" and the rest is history! (no pun intended!)
Do you have a subscription to ancestry.com? I only ask because I think there were some newspaper articles about Felix. I've been slowly but surely working my way through them--so I will check back in my notebook and see what I can come up with for you.

I had the 14-day free and found all the newspaper articles for the Ineichs- including the murder of Edna Ineich. I found several that are related to Alfred Ineich in Auburn.

I can be contacted through yahoo as well. I know that my grandfather, Felix was born in Olean NY if that helps you with your search. Felix's brothers and sisters were Julius Jr., Marguaret, Edward, Julia, Frank, Josphine and Clara. My father remembers his "Aunt Clara"

It is funny, before I started doing this research I was also told that Alfred Ineich was my grandfather's brother. :)

The 1910 Census has my great grandmother listed as Mary and her name was Constana Ineich (Foltrauer). Apparently her maiden name is Hungarian.

I also found out that there are three Julius Ineichs. Julius(my great grandfather) Julius C. Ineich, who married a woman named Mary and Julius Jr.

Someone emailed me from France and told me that the family may have settled in the Steinbach and Mulhouse area of Alsace. I was also told that the Ineich name is derived from Ineichen who came from Lurene Switerland.

I have hit a roadblock when it comes to searching the family from Alsace because every document is in French or German. I can't find anything relating to my great grnadfather overseas. It is very frustrating!!! I don't know if he was born in this country or Alsace.

Most of the Ineich family here in the Syracuse area are buried in St. Mary's in Minoa. Unfortunely, my grandfather's grave just has a marker. :(

Thank you so much...
