Mon adresse e-mail: ecouey@Pacbell.net

Earl Fabien Couey

Hi, I am also researching the Locy name (my maiden name) without much luck. My Dad decended from the Locy family that emigrated from Canada in 1880. I believe near Montreal...Roxboro. Is this the same family? I believe the name is German or Dutch

Here I am back in Georgia and I lost your e-mail address! I have you a tape of the Samuel Couey Memorial/Dedication Service and Henry Bee Chastain cassette tape. Just want to make sure you are there. I have missed our e-mailing back and forth.

hi...yours is the most recent posting i can find on the board...haven't contacted anyone for awhile....have moved to Fla. Am still trying to find actual connection between my John Couey, b. abt 1785...allegedly....tho I think it could have been up to 1790's.........He first married Sallie Frazier...no children.......2nd. wife, Elizabeth (Betsey) Gay........they were married Jan of 1820 in Laurens Co., Ga. I have found a census in Laurens Co. Library which lists Elizabeth's assets upon the death of John abt. 1860's.....Elizabeth filed for pension under John's service in war of 1812...includes a physical description of her husband. 3 of their sons were in the civil war....Henry Clay Couey m. Ellafair Howell of the Laurens Co. Howells......she lost brothers in the civil war....Henry and Ellafair moved to Columbia Co. Fla. They were my greatgrandparents. BUT my big questions still remain: Who were Elizabeth Gay Couey's parents...and who were her husband John Couey's parents? How was this John Couey connected, if he was, to the family that arrived in Charleston, SC. in 1767 on the ship Britannia. Any leads will ge gratefully appreciated.....Kathy Holt
