I need help with research in Saint Malo, Bourgogne, France
The person's name is Louis Victor Canto who was born about 1899.
His father was killed when he was a small child. the killing took place while his father left a pub on payday. His father was a seaman.
Louis said after his father was killed his mother found it necessary to place him in a Catholic home.

Another place Louis had mentioned during his childhood is St Servan...

He ran away from the home and stowed away often on ships as a child.

Any help would be appreciated.
his father's name MAY be Emile and his mother might be Marie. We are not sure....

When he was caught as a stowaway in 1923 he used his cousin's surname "Daluzeau"

First, St Malo is not in Bourgogne but in Bretagne (Brittany), in Ille et Vilaine Departement.
St Servan is an ancient city, now attached to the city of St Malo.

On this page:
http://www.geopatronyme.com/cgi-bin/carte/nomcarte.cgi?nom=c...

You have the location of all "Canto" born between 1891 and 1915.
By clicking "Ille et Vilaine" on the table right, you have all the cities of birth of this departement.

It is encouraging to see that "Servan sur Mer" is among those 10 cities

Unfortunately, it is not possible to have more details here.

The only solution now is to apply for birth certificates at the mairie of St Malo.

Explain that the birth must be in the register of St Servan

Bonne chance,
Jérôme

Are their genealogy specialists that would get the information I need from the records?

Does ancestry have french records?
thank you again,
