I'm searching for Andree Enguehard b. 1892 possibly near Loire et Cher, Mennetou ,France. She was my GGrandmother. She married James Means in France and arrived in America in 1919. She had a sister possibly born in the same area who later married a Mr. Dassieu who was a General in the French Military. Please contact me if you've seen Andree in your research and if you can help me locate information on her ancestors. Regards, Jim

Hello Jim,

You do not explain how you have these tracks about your ENGUEHARD at Mennetou-sur-Cher, Loir-et-Cher, France.

Which document have you in your hands so that you have these informations ?
- Andree and her sister
- Andree's marriage
- her sister married with the officer DASSIEU

If she emigrated in 1919, does her "Immigration act" give no more precise information ?

When she died (or before this date), did she not leave some information about the french part of her life ?

I would like to help you but I need to know more about your file.

Best regards from France.

Xavier, Thanks for responding. Please forgive me as I am not a professional genealogist. I have no government documentation on my great grandmother Andree. I remember her personally. She spoke very litte of her life in France. I do not have her death certificate.I was told by my grandmother(now deceased), Andree was born Dec. 23,1892 in France and that she married my great grandfather James Means on April 22, 1919 in France.

Andree died in 1977 and is burried in the Spring Hill Cemetary, Wellsville Ohio. I do not have an Immigration Act and don't know how to get a copy. Eight years ago I met Jean Dassieu, a distant cousin who's mother was Andree's sister. Jean came to the USA around 1970. He recently died from cancer. Before his passing we discussed our families and their lives. He told me about the area he thought his mother and my ggrand mother was born. (Mennetou-sur-Cher)He discussed his fathers military service and had the service medals to back his conversation. He provided information for me to contact our relatives in France but I do not speak French and have not yet attempted to reach them.

Please rest assured I have no ill will or anything to gain in this situation. I am merely an American of French ancestory attempting to piece together what information I have from various family members. I thought I may be able to reach someone in France who spoke english, and might be related. I searched the surname Enguehard and found this web page. I only wish to determine who my French ancestors were.

Thanks Again, Jim Williams
