My |Gr.Grandfather was William Andrew Nicholls, his father same name, mother Lavinia (Grundy) - GGF born Edinburgh Scotland - his father mine manger New Caled. 19th cent. Looking for register of death dates for New Caled 20th cent. GGF disappeared, looking fairly desperately for any clues as to where he ended up, died. His family lived in French/English condiminium on the island. Can anyone help me to find register? or place family there? Thanks if so

Did you try the Archives in Noumea, N.C. They're very helpful... Your forebears, from Scotland, if they were missionaries/christian may have been expulsed by the French because of their xenophobic view of the natives !

A possible connection?

The British/French Condominium was the New Hebrides, not New Caledonia
