If anyone can tell me anything about this person. He is my grandfather but we know nothing about him except he was born in Isle of Pines New Caledonia in 1899, died Sydney NSW 1976 (I think). He served in Australian Army (or navy) in WWII, but I'm looking for his ancestry. Rumour that his mother was German named Stuhl but who knows??? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME "Si vous ple!!!"

Hi and thanks for looking.

These are my grandparents and there seems to be some mystery as to Alphonse's real birthplace and year. Seems he changed the dates and places to get into the army in WWI and II, to be older for the first and younger for the second as well as his place of birth to be considered an Australian citizen I would imagine. He didn't give much away in his life so that's why he's the hardest to find.

When you say I can get a copy from them, who is "them" and how can I go about this?

Many thanks,
Lisa
