Hello Florence:

I am sorry I do not speak (barely read) French...I do speak Spanish....I hope you will bare with me.

My paternal ancestor came from Orleans, France in the 1860's for Sonora, Mexico..I, also believe, for a time he went to San Francisco before going to Mexico...from France he took the necessary equipment for a wheat mill to be established in Sonora...Caborca..to be exact.

I have the information for his life in Mexico...but, what I am trying to find is his parents and the rest of his family in France. In other words, his origins.

I have found many listings for "Morineau" in France, but have no way of knowing if these are distant relations...Also, have a small bit of information on a Jeanne Morineau, cir 1600 who went to French-Canada and was part of the early settlers for that period....again, have no way of knowing if this is a related ancestor....

If any of this sounds familiar I would love to hear from you...the name of "Morineau" is very rare in the state of California...and all who are so named are related to me in someway.

Flo,
I saw your postings in Ancestry.com regarding offering to help with the Morineau family. I understand that you speak French, Spanish, and understand English. I speak spanish and English and will send my message in both languages. Godparents: Ana Elizabet Morineau and Juan Santiago Mario Carvallo d' Grombali, Chief of the Batallion, Commanding Captain of the Sixth Regiment of the Royal Guard, Gentleman of the Legion of Honor

If you have any information or could guide me, I would greatly appreciate your time.

Sincerely,
Victoria Campillo
