Do you have original documents that you can attach? Because very often there are errors in the transcripts ...
In any case, it tells me nothing except 42 ans = 42 years

translating french genealogy terms

Can anyone help me figure out how to translate old french genealogy records? I have a basic working knowledge of French, but this has defeated me. My sister has traced back to our grandparents x 10 and found detailed entries about Jean Gobeil and his wife Jeanne Guyet of Poitiers, Poitou (Deux Sevres) but the records indicate terms I simply can't translate: "v. et. ar. Niort" or "42 ans aux rec. 66 et 67". I s imply can't translate these - anyone know a helpful website? i think these are old terms, old abbreviations so modern translation engines don't work. Any advice?

From the most recent
Helen (Ellen) Frances Emily Montellier born around 1875, married Henry Kennedy Sep 1894. This was my Mum's grandfather and mother.
She was the younger sister of William, James,Louisa,, Thomas.
She was the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Montellier. Thomas was born in 1840, Clare Market in London.
His Parents were William Montellier and Jane Montellier, formerly Soar.
That is all I know for certain and that is the connection with my family tree
At the same location were 2 deaths, William and Joseph Montellier in 1838, have not yet pursued these, can obtain the death certs if necessary.
Sorry, that pathetic bit is all I know! I can concentrate on this and try to find more to see if we are related.
The lead stealer, James William, I can only guess he is related,as they were in the same vicinity, same kind fo name, so he is in my to be investigated category.
Sorry, as you can see, I don't know a lot, but do have the option of going to London to look up records if necessary.
Perkinsh2
Montellier. I have some Montelliers in my family. They were living in the Strand, Central London in the 1840s. In 1840 a Thomas Montellier was born to William and Jane Montellier. There are also a few unproven links, a William Montellier dying in 1838 and a James William Montellier, mentioned in the criminal Register in 1816, (but he was discharged!)
Perkinsh2

All:
I am researching my and my husband's family trees. He is a direct decendant of the Dr Pierre Bowdoin you speak of. There is a very good book on the Bowdoins of the United States published in 1982 by U. Bowdoin Marsh. I would be very interested in any historical information you might have regarding the family from the 1400's back.
My family's name is Tull which originally I am told the family came from France (Tulle). The family crest had 3 gold bees in it. Later a branch imigrated to Ireland (name took the form of Tully) in the 1400-1500's and came to the US in the 1700's where the name returned to Tull. There are many Tulls in England,Australia, & US.
Any information that anyone could share about the origins of either family would be greatly appreciated. The work I have done can be seen on the public Bowdoin-Tull Family Tree.
Thanks
Carol Tull Bowdoin

Just wanted to let you know I am one of many cousins and have been interested in our family heritage for quite some time. But I can't seem to find anything past about 1830 or so. I never even looked at the Emery side of the family and recognized the Jewish ancestry...der! Anyway, my father is the youngest of George and Gaynel's children - Michael. I haven't had any contact with him for the last 35 years and that's just fine (a very long and ugly story). I am the oldest of three sons to Michael and Nancy (Willis) Couron and was born May 26th, 1960. Please let me know if you find any other information about the family on either side and I'll do the same. And please feel free to contact me at my e-mail address of courond@hotmail.com

I'm looking for information on this family, traditionally said to descend from Theophilus Bellangee in Poitiers. Immigrant to America was Ives (EVI, EVES) Bellangee to Philadelphia where he married Christian De La Plaine in 1697. Ives was a Huguenot who is said to have left France after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes.

Any information will be greatly appreciated. If any one can offer advice on how to research this family in France, I would also appreciate that. Thank you.

I have seen such information in the past, but I haven't seen any resources or citations. Much is surmised from a statement the said that Guillaume Blanchard came to Acadia with his wife Huguette and his brother-in-law Jehan Poirier. That would indicate that Jehan had a sister named Huguette.

Hi -
I am in Eastern Canada, last name is Beyea
I have been told that about around the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, an ancestor was burned as a heretic in La rochelle, and his wife and son escaped to England, then North America (with the possiblity of Holland before England). It is suspected that "Beyea" is a phonetic transcription of the original French surname, which could have been Bie, Bies or Biay.

The story is that the widow re-married in England, and son, mother and step-father sailed for America.

Apparently, G.S. film 199954 of the Card Index of Walloon members of La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime, France, Ca 1602-1681 has these records -

Inhume a la Rochelle au cimitiere des Reformes a la Ville neuve-
- Jan 17, 1664 Jean Bie, fils de Jean Bie profession mar. d. age 9 days
- Sept 22, 1664 Susanne Bie, file de Jean Bie profession mar d age 2 years
- Oct 13, 1670 (?) Susanne Biay, fille de Jean biay d age 16 months.
- Feb 25, 1673 Jean Bie, fils de Jean Bie d age 8 years
- Jan 26, 1682 Jean Bies d age 49 years

Baptise au temple de la Rochelle de la Ville neuve
- Jun 19, 1674 Jean, son of Jean Bie and Marie Grasset

Does anyone have any information around this, or any of the Huguenots?
Please email me at chuckbeyea@hotmail.com

Thanks

Chuck
I have the following (unproven) information for Huguette Poirier, Jehan's sister: father: Jehan Poirier, b.1560 Martaize, Loudun, Viennes, France; mother: Jeanne Chabret Chabret, b.1565 Lachaussee, Viennes (or Poitou Viennes?) France; d. 1656

Some family trees on Ancestry.com have the father of Jeanne Chabret as Antoine Chabrat Chabret, b. 1530 in France. Some family trees list a wife for Antoine, but this must be incorrect because they have this wife as having been born in 1604, well after the birth of her supposed son, Jehan. Though this could have been a subsequent marriage, they have not specified it as such.

I was born on Feb. 4th 1939 in Roseburg Oregon.
I am trying to find out more about my Jewish Heritage.
In the late 60's I traveled to Iowa, and met my Great Grandmother Emery. She gave me some pillowcases that she embroidered. I do have some information about the name
Breyfogel. I would appreciate as much information as you
could give me. I have some information on a family tree
that my mother sent to me before she died. It is my understanding that there was a Catherine Levy who married
a Breyfogel. I have that lineage list somewhere but can't find it at this moment.
I have cousins named Donna and Pam that I have not seen
since I was a little girl. I have a picture with myself,
my Uncle Michael Couron and Pam at my Grandparents home in
Garden Grove Calif. It was taken in about 1947.
I would be grateful for any information about my family
Thank you,
Toni

Hi Pam,

It's great to hear from you. Yes, I am married to Lionel's son, Chris. I guess that would make us cousins...Cool! Yes, I am the daughter-in-law who is doing genealogy on the family and I'm always full of questions. I have researched a little on Crohn's disease because two years ago, Chris was tested to see if he had it, but the doctors say he doesn't. In the process of researching, I discovered that Crohn's is more predominant in Jewish ancestry. I have also heard it rumored that there is Jewish ancestry in the family and would like to find out the line it comes through.

Donna
ok2bsilly@msn.com

My daughter in law is related to George Maxie Verbois. Is this the same person you speak of in your post?

Record #: "636"
"I am writing on behalf of my grandmother. She is trying to locate a picture of the The Lucky Penny airplane. Her brother, George Maxie Verbois (does anyone know of him?) was a side gunner on the Lucky Penny for the European Theatre of WWII. If anyone has any information regarding the troop my great uncle was a part of OR know of any place I might find a picture of the Lucky Penny, please let me know. Thanks!"
