I am in search of information on the Norgeot surname. This is my fiances family. Family lore has it that Norgeot is translated as "from Norway" and that when his family immigrated to St. Pierre their name was changed to Norgeot because whoever was writing down their name couldn't accurately write their Norweigan name. I'm not sure if this is correct, or if Norgeot is the original surname. My understanding originally was that Norgeot was French, from France, but that has since changed. Any help would be wonderful.
