I know this is quite a few years since your post that I am replying to, but I was in hopes that you can still see this and give me some help. My Holst line as a connection with the Schwab and Abbey family line. I am looking for information on Anna Barbara Abbey, B: 19 Jan 1827 in Bern, Switzerland. She married Peter Schwab on Dec 21, 1865 in Iowa, City. If you have this in your line, could you please email me at scott.holst@yahoo.com Thanks for your precious time!!

Hi I've just seen your post regarding your relations Byrnes/Abbey's from Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow.
My Great Granfather Patrick Byrne was a first cousin of Bridgit O'Grady (nee Abbey).
I'm currently doing the family tree and am very interested. My Mother Sally comes from Baltinglass and she has met John O'Grady but has not heard from him in a while.
Would love to know if you are related.
Regards
Clare

Hi. Saw your reply to someone else. Thought it might be possible the Abbey you are talking about is related to the Abbey I am trying to find out more about. He was Daniel Abbey, born in NY 1817. Married Elizabeth Presley of Ky. He was a physician, died during the Civil War. Daniel was my great great grand father. I can't find any NY records for him. Thanks so much. HC

Re: Abraham Abbey, Joseph Abbey, Cherry Ann Hall

I am the great granddaughter of Joseph Hall Abbey whose parents were Abraham/Abram Abbey and Cherry Ann Hall. I have Abraham's father as Joseph. In Joseph's will, dated 20 July 1844, his widow is Martha. He resided at East Bloomfield, Ontario County, New York. Listed as minors are Austin Abbey and Mary Abbey, Thomas Jefferson Abbey, Nathaniel Abbey, Susan Abbey, Joseph Abbey and Sarah Abbey. The last five children are Abraham and Cherry Ann's children. A guardian is appointed to watch out for the interests of the children, a Lawrence W. Cole Abraham is not mentioned in the will. One of my gt.aunt's told me that Abraham had left Cherry Ann when Joseph Hall Abbey was four years old. Another relative found this will and has done a lot of research on the Hall line. The will also mentions another daughter Adeline Atkins.

I went on to mocavo.com, entered Joseph Hall Abbey today
and saw your postings.

They date back to the 1920s. There are also 2 diaries. I hate to get rid of them and if anybody thinks they're useful, please contact me. Some other names attached to these letters: McLeichtrau, Mildred and Grace Herman, Elmer Abbey, Esther Shafer. Cities attached: Grand Rapids, Ionia, Lowell, Michigan

I am having trouble finding any more information on this Artemisia Abbey. She was married to Nathaniel Ingraham (1800-1847) around 1823 in New York. She was also born in New York around 1801 and her parents are from Vermont but I have no other information on them. Nathaniel and Artemisia
resided in Butler for a time and at least one son, Nathaniel, was born there in 1836. They are listed on the 1840 Federal Census as residing in Butler. They left for Ohio around 1843/4.

My branch of this family ended up in the towns of Spencer, Huntington and Sullivan in Ohio. Children:
William (1823-1871) m. Martha Wilbur
Elizabeth (1826-1897)
Lendeall (1831-1883) m. Elizabeth Lashels
Nathaniel (1836-1911) m. Ellen Miner; Nancy Sooy

Some of the others ended up in Berlin, St. Clair, Michigan, and Armada, Macomb, Michigan:
Joseph A. (1828-1889) m. Amanda Sumner
Hiram (1834-1921) m. Desdamona Scribner

One resided in Albion, Noble, Indiana:
Francis P. (1841-1915) m. Margaret Gault

If anyone has any information at all on this branch of the Ingrahams, particularly information on the first Nathaniel and Artemisia Abbey Ingraham, I would greatly appreciate it. I know the Abbeys were a large family in Vermont but I really am having trouble placing Artemisia.
Hello Shelly,

Where in Canada are you? I am sorry but the Abbey's on my side didn't come from Canada. I am not sure where my grandfather was born. I would have to ask my half-brother Robert Abbey, he lives in Dublin, California. My grandmother on my dad's side was born in County Cork, Ireland. They lived in Seattle, Washington for a time because that is where my father was born. They also lived in California in the Bay Area. So wish I could have helped you. My mother's maiden name was Thyne, her first name was Rose Ellen Thyne. She was born in South Dakota, and her family tree holds Quinns in it. She was one of 8 children and my father was one of 2. She said that her family history was coming from Scotland/Ireland, crossing into Nova Scotia, then to South Dakota, to Nebraska, then to Iowa and from there California. Along the coast not very far from San Francisco. I hope you find who you are looking for...I know you could try the Mormon Family History Center, if you have a Mormon Church (Temple) in your community. If not you can go online and go to Salt Lake City, Utah; where the Mormon Family History Center is and give them the names your looking for...They have several areas that could be where you could locate you family tree. Happy hunting..if I found out more about my grandfather and grandmother sides I will try to post here...Bye for now...Cheryl in Virginia

Hello CherylRinginha,
I do not think we are related. Our tree is not the same. From my letter I wrote I do not know of any Abbey's from Canada. Now, my mother said that her family which their last name her maiden name was Thyne. Was from Scotland/Ireland, when the potato famine started and they came into Nova Scotia. Then traveled to South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa. From there are Quinn's, if I remember correctly. Then my mother's family continued to California in the middle area around Castro Valley. That is about all I know for now. I have to get out some papers that my mother sent to me that has the Thyne side of the family. Her side that is where the name Quinn comes in...Hope I have help you...Cheryl in Virginia

I only have a George Henry Abbey with his father as John. They are from England.
Does this match up with anything.
I am having trouble with the Abbey family as my grandfather was married 3 times and I come from the second marrage and the first marrage did not end well so my uncles are not very forth coming with information on the Abbey side and can't find may of the actual Abbey's.
But if you have a family tree maybe I can look and see if any thing else matches.

Hello Leilani,

My name is Cheryl (Abbey) Zilkie,
I got a post on Ancestry.com blogs a few years ago. I am starting to fill in my family tree. Sorry, but I do not think we are related, because my father was born in Seattle, Washington, my grandparents are Glenn Raymond Abbey and Katherine/Kathryn Meehan; (she came from County Cork, Ireland and finally settled in Seattle with my grandfather) I have 2 half brothers who live in California. One lives in Dublin, and the other in San Jose. (This to could be changed). They have children and most likely grandchildren now. I have two natural brothers; we share the same father different mothers. There is Glenn Raymond Abbey, II, born in San Francisco, California he was born in May 9, 1946. He will be 64 in May 5, 1946. He now resides in a Veteran Home in Hollidaysburg, Pa. He has been there over 18 years. Due to a head injury he was place there by his wife. He has a daughter by this third marriage to Karen (Ski) Abbey, the daughter's name is Allison Mildred Abbey. I think she is around 18 yo. I met her a couple of times, hef mother is a bit stand offish. Which is sad, because I am a great person and a wonderful aunty. My younger brother is Richard James Abbey, Jr. Born in Camden, New Jersey. He resides in Woodbridge, Virginia. He will be 61 in August. He has 2 children (adult), one is Rick and the other is Felicia. Not sure how old they are now. But didn't get to be raised around them much either. We are three hours away from each other. I live in Newport News, Virginia. I have two children (adults)now, there is Steven Richard Perkins, he is 38 yo, born in Jan. 5, 1972,in San Diego, California. My other child (adult), is Jenna Marissa (Perkins) Vincent. She is married to Brian Lee Vincent and live now in
Williamsburg, Virginia. They have 4 children, Zachary Braden 9yo birthday in June, Kathryn Ann 7 yo birthday in Feb, Nathanial Lee 5 yo in May, and Gabriel Conner who will be 1 yo in June 13th. I had three other siblings they were born of my mother different fathers. But only one I has survived all these years. She is a half-sister who resides in Oregan, her name is Jean Bates. She has 3 sons, and is a grandmother 5 times I think. All of us are not that close but I think in a pinch we could be. Hope this helps someone in your search for (Abbey Tree). If any of this helps anyone, please let me know. I have lots of knowledge of my siblings and some of the history of growing up in this side of Richard James Abbey, Sr. Family Tree. I reside in Virginia as I had said before, but can not wait to open more doors and branch out. thanks...again...Sincerely, Cheryl Ann (Abbey) Zilkie.

Hi, I actually have quite a lot on the Abbey family. My family was in Chester, Randolph Co, Ill. in the 1800's. My gGGGGreatgrandfather was William O Abbey. He was born in NY I believe, ( Have to double check my records)a lot of his ancestors were from Salem Mass. William #2 married Sarah Rockwell, daughter of Justus Rockwell who was descended from Wm Rockwell from England.Their daughter, Mary married into the Marshall family from Maryland, Va, KY to Illinois.

Mary's daughter married into the Mulholland family of Randolph Co, Ill.
Contact me at my e-mail clcady@earthlink.net and we can discuss it further.
Connie

Angela, do you know why your side changed the spelling of the name? I'm assuming because "Abe" is pronounced "Abby" and it was probably easier to change the spelling than to correct everyone calling them "Abe" as in Lincoln.

Hi Angela. My condolences in the loss of your father. Obviously, the info I had about your dad was incorrect and I will correct it.

My great-grandmother Anna Abe Foley and your grandpa Arthur Sr. were siblings. I haven't worked with our family history in a few years, but do have information I can share with you.

Hello Cindy,

I am the daughter of Arthur Abbey, Jr. He was born September 3, 1919 in Boston, Mass. My dad recently passed away (Nov 1, 2009) in Tucson, Arizona. He was buried Nov 6, 2009 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. He served in the Navy for 30 years. His wife is Valerie (Williams) Abbey born August 8, 1947 and I also have a sister named Andrea Anne Abbey born December 12, 1978. His mother's name was Emma Piepenbrink. Emma's parents were Conrad Frederick Piepenbrink and Thersa Hagen. Last year I began working on our family tree, but have been able to only find a small amount of info about the Abe side of our family. Perhaps we'll be able to help one another. I know that Art, Sr.'s siblings were sent to an orphanage so this may explain why is challenging to get information about them.

Hope this helps you!
Angela Anne Abbey
Born August 1, 1974

Hello

I was wondering if any of your Henry's settled in Caledon Twp, Peel County in the 1820 - 1870s. I was recently at Boston Mills Cemetery in Caledon and there were several Henry's buried there. I wonder if they are related to Elizabeth Henry (b. 1785 place ? d. 1834 Caledon Twp) in my family tree.

Elizabeth Henry married Archibald McNaught or McNaughton in 1807 in Paisley, Scotland and came to Canada in 1820 (York) with their 6 children. They settled in Caledon Twp (Lot 3, Con 3) in 1822. Archibald died in 1834 and Elizabeth in 1854 and are buried in Melville Cemetery in Caledon.

I have not been able to find any Henry graves in Caledon until a recent visit to the Boston Mills Cemetery revealed several of them buried there. I wonder if they are her relations.

I would appreciate hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Laurie Lotz
