In reference to the surname of Abigail, I wish to inform you that my last name is Abigail, yet I hail from neither John Abigail (of 1694) nor Robert Abigail (of 1791). My (and our) ancestors descended from the European aristocracies. As such, anyone with the last name Abigail ought to live and act with utmost propriety to maintain our family name with high deference. It is a noble name, with noble affiliations.

Re: The Abigail family

My great-great-great grandmother's maiden name is Abigail. Mary Abigail married Thomas Jefferson Humphrey, a judge, in 1832. They were married in Vermont, but migrated to Michigan shortly after. They settled in Berry County, Michigan, near the town of Lacy.

They had children Agnes, Emma, Nettie and Nellie. Emma Humphrey (my great-great grandmother) married a farmer named John Henry Bullis. They had twins, Eva and Edith, but Eva died in infancy. The mother, Emma, died afterward of a hemorrhage. John Bullis had joined the Merrill Horse Brigade in Berry County and could not raise Edith. And so Edith's grandparents, Thomas Jefferson Humphrey and Mary Abigail Humphrey legally adopted and raised her.

SJ

Hi I'm researching the Abigail family, which appears to stem from one marriage in 1694 in Catfield, Norfolk, England between John Abigail and Elizabeth Wollard.

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has information about the Abigail family
