Hi

It seems that there is a connection. Ellen ABSON who married Donald SMITH is the sister to my great grandfather James Sharpley ABSON.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any further information on my great great grandfather John ABSON who came to Canada from England.

If you want, I can send you the information that I have on the descendants of James Sharpley ABSON. If possible, I would like to get information on the descendants of Ellen ABSON & Donald SMITH.

I have been to the grave site of Ellen ABSON & Donald SMITH in East Templeton Quebec and have a picture of the grave stone. If you want a copy, let me know. There is a memorial service at the church/grave yard on June 5 2011 which I am thinking of attending.

Regards

Ron ABSON email: absonclan@sympatico.ca

Sorry I should have mentioned we think those are all in Stanley Lane End.

I have your Benjamin (1847-1872) on my tree because ...

Well you see in your third Generation you have an Joseph Abson marring a Catherine? I believe she is our Catherine Abson, so I began researching your side to see if I could get them to join up anywhere else.

I only have Elizabeth Abson (born about 1895) as their child.
I think we might be related, but a bit farther back than I've researched. My tree starts with:

Joseph Abson (1795 - 1876) and Sarah (1799 - 1869)

They had 5 children:

Thomas Abson (1826
John Abson (1827-1893)
Rebecca Abson (1830
Rosetta Abson (1834
Elizabeth Abson (1840

We then follow on from Elizabeth Abson who married Thomas Cooling Watson.
Please get in touch via my website, "contact me". I need to discuss the memorial plaque for William Joseph Abson (see picture on the photo album page). In the first World War 1914 to 1918, relatives of killed service personnel were given a "death plaque" or memorial medal showing the name of the dead person. These plaques or medals were individually cast in bronze.

William Joseph Abson was my grandfather. He had 2 sons. Charles William Abson was born 30 December 1911. He was my father - Bill Abson, who married in 1933 and had 4 daughters (the first of whom was stillborn) I am the youngest. Bill lived most of his life in Sheffield; just five years he lived in Melbourn, Australia from 1950 to 1955. He died in 1959.
William Joseph's second son was a couple years younger and his name was Harry. I believe he had four children

Hello. I am looking for information about this man. He was born about 1814 in this area. His wife was Frances Dean. I am searching for anyone who might have a connection to this couple and/or know anything about them. I believe that this Frances was a sister of my great great grandfather, Joseph Dean. I don't know much about Frances or James either, but would like to exchange information and ideas with anyone else who has an interest in them. Thank you!

Holly

ABSON

I'm looking for information on John ABSON who was born in England. I have information showing that he was born 10 Oct 1804 in Yorkshire, but I so far have been unable to confirm this.

He enlisted in the 65 th regiment of England in about 1826 and was sent West Indies. He was later sent to Canada for the rebellion of 1837 and fought at the siege of Prescott.

On his discharge from the army, he settled in St Constant, Laprairie, Quebec, Canada where he married Mary Ann SHARPLEY in about 1853. They had 2 children, James Sharpley ABSON born 17 Oct 1854 and Ellen ABSON born 22 Aug 1860, both in Laprairie, Quebec, Canada.

Any information on the ancestors of both John ABSON and Mary Ann SHARPLEY would also be appreciated.

Many Thanks

Many Thanks
