Hi Lauren,

Have you made any head way with you question? I have a version of the Abt family tree from 1764. It looks like your great great grandmothers lines is not complete on this so it would be great to get your input. The tree is written in German. Also the town of Melsugen has a website some great info on the jewish families from there, including the Abt family.

Good luck!

Hello,

I believe the Anton Abt you were looking for might be my great-great-grandfather. I don't have an exact date of birth, but the age you gave would be about fitting. He was married to Theresia Jungbold, had two children named Katharina (married Josip Asic, who she had three children with) and Stefan and died in Lovas in 1944. He made several trips to the US. I unfortunately have no exact dates for these trips, as the only person I can ask is my grandfather and he doesn't remember everything in detail.

Adam Abt; 1804-1892; Germany>Scott Co., IA

Davenport Daily Leader (Davenport, Iowa)
February 9, 1892

Abt
Another old settler passed away this morning. Adam Abt who has resided at 1006 Harrison street for many years. Adam Abt was born in Bavaria, Germany, in the year 1804. Half a century ago he came to America, coming to Scott county in 1847, where he has lived ever since. He became engaged in the shoe business in which he continued until about eighteen years ago when he retired from active life.
His health was remarkably good for a man of his advanced years. In fact he was able to go around without any assistance. His eyesight remained sound so that he was able with the assistance of spectacles to read the newspapers without any trouble. He suffered from no malady whatever until last Friday, when he became seriously ill from the effects of a slight cold, which he had caught a few days before. A physician was called in Saturday morning, who pronounced him to be laboring under an attack of pneumonia. He lingered until 1:20 o’clock this morning, when he passed away.
Mr. Abt kept a shop on Front street between Brady and Main streets from about the close of the war until 1873, the same year that occurred the death of his wife. Since then he has remained at home, provided for by his son, Adam, who remained with him to the last.
The funeral will take place Thursday morning with services at St. Joseph’s church at 9 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s cemetery.

(Note: I am not related to this family & have no other information)

Joseph Anton Abt + Kresenz Knecht family

Joseph Anton Abt and wife Kresenze Knecht lived in the village of Bergatreute, Donaukreis, Wuerttemberg. They had at least the following children: Agatha (b. 1856), Kresenz (b. 1852), Theres (b. 1853) and Matthias. After the death of the parents, the children were taken in according to Orphan Law by John George Kloeckler and his wife Sophie Lock. Two of the Abt girls married Kloeckler sons: Agatha married Tiber Kloeckler, 30 Jan. 1873 in Bergatreute, and Theres or Theresia married Joseph Kloeckler, Nov. 25, 1872 in Bergatreute. Both these families went to the U.S., and I believe Matthias did also. I'd like to hear from anyone related to these folks. (I'm a descendant of John George and Sophie Kloeckler, but not an Abt.)

Re: Abt Family

I am the ABT you are looking for....My grandfather came to America from Probender,Samara, Russia near Saratov. He married Anna Maria Bondank Feb. 6, 1906 in Kasikar Russia . Probender, Russia is near Sartov on the Volga River. Anna Maria is the daughter of Francis Bondank and Anna. She was born October 01, 1887 in Probender, Samara, Russia. I believe that Johannes (John) Abt's father was Michael. I also was told a story that Johannes had atleast 3 sisters that were tripplets. My grand father came to this country a couple years prior to my grandmother and their oldest child. He earned enough money to send for them.

Grandmother and Maria the daughter came to this country 1910. They took passage on a ship to Liverpool, England, to Ellis Island, New York, then on to Kansas City, Kansas and that is where the next two children were born, which was John and Ann.
Re: John Abt - Germany

I left a message on the John Abt file in the Family Tree. Perhaps that was the wrong place (I'm new to Ancestry.com and genealogical research in general). I'm looking for information on the life and descendents of a Johann Abt from Noerdlingen, Bavaria, Germany, who emigrated as a 5-yr-old with his sisters Katharine (then 12) and Babette (then 10) on the Germania from Bremen to NY which arrived 10.July 1854. They were going to their father, Michael Abt, who was already in Newark. On the Germans to America passenger list, he is listed as John Abt. I will try to find his birthdate and more information from the city archives in Noerdlingen (where I live).

MARJORIE ABT BRONNER Middletown, N.Y.

Marjorie Abt Bronner, a resident of Middletown, and a former elementary school teacher at Liberty Street School in Middletown, and for many years the co-operator, with her husband Robert J. Bronner and his family, of the Rolling Knolls dairy farm in Winterton, died on Saturday, August 9, 2003 after a long illness at the Park Manor Rehabilitation Center, where she resided for several years with her husband Robert. She was 88. Marjorie was born in Woodridge in 1914 to Carrie Berwin and August Abt. She moved to Middletown with her family after graduating from the New Paltz State Teachers College and began teaching the 4th grade. In 1950 she married Robert J. Bronner and began a 45-year career with her husband, operating the Rolling Knolls dairy farm. She was a member of the Bloomingburg Grange and assisted her husband in his long tenure as a Justice of the Peace. She was a lifetime member of the First Congregational Church of Middletown, where she held many positions over the years, including Sunday School superintendent and guild chairperson. Marjorie and Robert lived at the Southwinds Retirement Home in Middletown from 1994 to 1998. She is survived by many nephews, grandnephews, and grandnieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Bronner, who died last year; and her brother, Kenneth B. Abt in 1984. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Thursday, August 14 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Middletown. The Pastor Mark Alvis will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Phillipsburg Cemetery in the Town of Wallkill. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Congregational Church, Middletown; the Girl Scouts of America (Marjorie was a troop leader in her young adulthood); or the charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements by the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc.

ABT (Ernestine or Rosina)

I am looking for any family history on my Great grandmother Ernestine Abt (Froese). All I know is that she married Franz Theodore Froese, and had 3 children: Herman (my grandfather), Ernest, Marie. I believe she then died and my grandfather married her sister, Rosina Abt (Froese). The had 8 children together: Lena, Martha, Karl, Paul, Hilda, Clara, Art, and Franz (who died at the age of 3yrs). They must have been in Posselau Ostpreisen, Germany in the year 1897, because that is when my Grandfather was born. Please if anyone has any info on this family line, reply. Thank you.
~Brynja~

Married to Theresa Esaman. Emigrated to USA from Beke, Hungary in 1901, along with two sons, Stephen, age 8, and Jacob, age 6. Had a daughter, Theresa, who apparently died in Hungary, then had a son,Andrew, born in Wisconsin, and died at a young age in Wis. Another son, Joseph was born in Ringle, Wis. and died there at about 70 years of age.
On the 1905 census, (Marathon Co, Wis) they vehemently claimed to be "Magyars" because nationality, Hungarian, was scribbled out and almost illegibly Magyar was written above it.
Would like to find the name of the Ship and the passenger list they came over on. On one document, it was listed as departing from Fiume, Italy, but no name was given. The year should be 1901.
Also looking for Esamann name, wife of Andreas,(in English, Andrew). Esamann could be a link to where they came from and other info.

According to a family Bible, Charles F. was from Baden Germany.

Joseph and Mary Esamann are listed in the 1870 Census of Indianapolis. They are buried at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana. Joseph died in 1887, at the age of 72.
Abt Family--NY/Ms

Hi, I don't know if we are from the same line of Abt's, but if I can help--I will. My maiden name is Abt, my grandfather is Norman P. Abt. As far as I know, he is originally from NY, but I do know that we have German lineage. He is married to Marion Welch, and they have 9 living children. I am new to the geaneology search, so I don't currently have many dates or ancestral names. If you think, I might have any helpful info., please contact me.

William Abt

Jane:

Thanks for the follow up, but unfortunately we are related to different William Abts. The William I knew, had a brother named David (who lived in Chicago); and lived the ned of his years in Rockford Illinois, I believe. Thanks again for the response, and take care.

Relative of an Abt
