The 1786 date for the marriage I saw seems to have been a typo. Most people have for that couple December 20, 1788 and official Massachusetts records have it as January 8, 1789. This is very problematic for my theory as Warren was born January 30, 1789. It's impossible for me to believe they didn't get married until Ruth was eight months pregnant. I'm not ruling them out, but Greenwich had a bunch of Wheelers at the time. It's quite possible this John has a cousin John who married a different Ruth who moved to Ware.

Yes, I found that as well. I also believe that John Wheeler might be the John Wheeler born about 1760 in Greenwich, Hampshire, MA (to Ephraim Wheeler and his wife Hannah), who married Ruth Thayer on December 20, 1786. I haven't yet vetted this information though and so far I regard it as just speculation.

I too am descended from Susan Adams. I found a book called A Genealogical Register of North Brookfield Families by Charles Adams.

On p. 487 in the Adams genealogy, it says “Benjamin, son of Ephraim, b. July 25, 1775, d. Jan. 5, 1814, m. Apr. 10, 1800, Polly Crowell of Brookfield. Children Solomon Aiken, b. Oct. 29, 1800, unmarried; Amos Banister, b. Jan. 30, 1802, m. Electa Wheeler of Ware; Reuben Bemis, b. Dec. 8, 1804; Mary, b. Apr. 5, 1807, m. Dwight Sampson; Martha Crowell, b. Apr. 25, 1810, m. ---- Johnson, and d. Brookfield, 1868; Susan Eldridge, b. Sept. 6, 1812, m. Frank Sampson; Jerusha Benjamin, b. July 25, 1814, m. ---- Sly of North Adams, and d. 1879.”

It goes back into the Adams genealogy back to William Adams. More importantly, though, I want to draw people's attention to "Electa Wheeler." There was an "Electy Wheeler" who was born October 13, 1806 in Ware, Hampshire, MA to John Wheeler and his wife Ruth. So we've all been stymied by her because her maiden name wasn't Whitlock at all. It was Wheeler.
Adams Family - Cincinnati, Ohio

How does someone just disappear? I did not know my Grandfather - George Clinton Adams, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on 10/16 in 1892 or 1893. His parents were Joseph and Amelia Adams. I find him in the 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses and his WW1 and WWII draft registrations, but after that nothing. I would like to find out where he lived, who he married, children, when he died? After 1930, he disappeared. Any suggestions?

Female Adams / Reff Descendants of Cape Vincent, New York Genetics

I have traced my direct female lineage to Margaret (Maggie) Adams (b. ~1856, d. 1893), who married Warren Lynts and lived in Point Peninsula, New York in 1880. My female line is quite clear from that point on. After much sifting I believe Margaret is the daughter of Christopher and Mary Barbara (Reff) Adams. I would like to make contact with any other descendants of Mary Barbara Reff to try and prove lineage. I think there was a major break in the family.
I would like to contact any other direct female line descendents of Mary Barbara (female or male terminus of direct female line) that has done mitochondrial DNA testing. I (and therefore Margaret) have a rare mitochondrial haplogroup, X2b4, and establishing Mary Barbara Reff’s haplogroup would quickly prove or disprove relationship. Also my X2b4 has several unique mutations that could establish us as a unique sub-haplogroup if there are enough of us to constitute a “grouping” (takes 3 or 4).

Thanks,

Bill (Adams, Lynts, Wilson, Bouic) Schrader
Nicholas Adams in London

I am looking for information on Nicholas Adams and either of his wives. Nicholas was born c.1749 I am guessing somewhere in London. His occupation was a coal merchant.

His first wife was named Charity (no maiden name known) and with her he had three children: John (b.1772, Chelsea), Sarah Johnstone Elizabeth (b.1774, Chelsea) and Charles Thomas (b. 1777, Chelsea).

Sarah Johnstone Elizabeth went on to marry James Faulkner (b.1773) in 1795 in Chelsea, and they had 13 children together.

Nicholas' first wife, Charity, died in 1781 in Chelsea, seemingly at roughly 30 years of age. Nicholas remarried a year later in 1782 a Sarah Young (c.1750) and they had one daughter Maria Ann who was born and died 1784.

Possibly, due to the absence of information on his other children, Sarah Johnstone Elizabeth was the only one of his children to survive to adulthood.

If anyone has any information on this family (particularly a marriage record for Nicholas and Charity) I would be very grateful!)

History Project

Hello,

I am doing a history project for school and I am trying to figure out whether or not I am related to John Adams (the president). However, I can only trace back to my great-grandfather Arthur C Adams who lived in Illinois. His wife was Lorraine (sp?) Forrester and his son was John A Adams. Anyone who was any info on any of these people please contact me! Thanks so much!
