Hello Grant, I have just seen your message about William Addicoat arriving in Sth Aust. on the Isle of Thanet. I have looked at the Passenger List and cannot find his name on it. I note everyone on Ancestry seems to be putting him down as arriving on this ship. Have you seen the name on a ship's list somewhere to verify this. I am most interested to know. THanks.
Oh i forgot to add. I have emails from a Don Johnston on the Vic Addicoats and a file that details the lineage. It was excellent.
I did spend a short time in Bendigo and look at Eaglehawk cemetery. I seem to spend to much time at those places but are so interesting.
Again chat soon
Grant

Hi
I checked on the ship you mentioned but no Addicoats?
On the ship i mentioned they are down as Haddicoats.
http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/australia/isleofthanet1854...

Anyhow just make sure we keep the facts straight either way.
If you give me your email address i can add you to my list of people to view it.

I am in Adelaide, grew up in Semaphore and now live out at Athelstone.

There are less than 50 Addicoats in SA and Vic in the phone book, 6 NSW/ACT, 8 Qld and Tas and 3 for WA. We sure seem a small clan with direct descendants.

my actual email address is gvmartin@virginbroadband.com.au

Does this take you right to the tree i have?
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=martinade...

Chat soon
Grant

Hi Grant,
Hey, we're related!!!
I've got heaps on those two as there were only three lines that came over. William with Jane, John with Hannah and a cousin, another William.
I'll have to get all my info out on them for you.
Sorry, but I don't have a photos. I think the furthermost back I can go is to Great grandmother Annie from Bendigo. I haven't got any photos of her husband William.
Got a question for you, where is the Isle of Thanet?
They arrived in Australia on the 4th December on the ship Agincourt.
Where in the world are you?
I'm in Australia.
Cheers
Jenny

Hi Jenny
It has been a while since i got back to the addicoat line but would love to share any info.
I got caught up with a Thomas Chant who deserted his wife and things snowballed from there, to then working on my mother in laws side and finding a few famous names.
So I have just updated my latest gedcom.
William Addicoat came to Australia with Jane (Ellis) arriving 24th Oct 1854 on the Isle of Thanet.
I am the GG Grandson of them.
If you have any information or any scanned early photos of people in my family tree then that would be great, but i feel that these things are few and far between for a few generations.
I look forward to a reply and seeing what we can swap.
Regards
Grant MArtin
