On my site, magruderslanding.com, I have just posted information about Roderick Addison and Aaron Addison and their families in Prince George's County, MD. Under Slavery's Legacy, click on "Will of William M. Bowie" to find the correlation between names in the estate inventory and names/locations on the 1880 census. These Addisons also have connections to the Magruder family that changed their name to McGregor.

John Addison marriage to Catherine, England 1820's

My biggest brick wall is my GGG grandfathers marriage.
He was John Addison, blacksmith, and his wife's name was Catherine. They had a son John born April 1829 in Stepney, London, who was baptised at St Anne's church Limehouse on 22 Jul 1838, so my guess for the marriage date is the late 1820's, and for their birthdates bt 1800-1810.

I have been unable to find ANY other record at all for the parents. The whole family is missing from the 1841 census. The son (my GG grandfather) surfaces on the 1851 census in lodgings and I have his history thereafter.

But for the parents, nothing. And I have searched everywhere I can think of. Any ideas welcome!

Thanks

John Addison
New Zealand

I'm not sure what I'm doing on this site and I get stuck alot. It would be great to put together all the names in our tree. Don't know how to get trees together from other people. I could use help, that's for sure. When I get to relatives migrating over from other countries I can't seem to get to much info. I did end up in England and Cork,Cork, Ireland. I have found that our ancesters migrated from England, Scotland, Ireland areas, by way of Canada and ended up in Maine. Migrataed down through Massachusett and Boston, New York and that my grandma is the only one of the family who migrated to Detroit and 1 aunt ended up in California. So far.

Not sure yet. Have to review tree again. Related to Shields, Herrings, Linderlief, Seeley, Skillings, Dupreys and all other names I seem to be coming up with. My dad is Richard Norris Herring and my mom is Nona Eileen Buckler/Herring. Start there and see were we end up. Grandpa on dads side is Lyle Herring and grandma is Thalia Mae Shields/Herring/Seeley. On moms side grandparents were Rita Seeley/Buckler and George Buckler. I know when I trace our tree, it leads me to England.

Re: Correction: Lottie Paul ADDISON

Lottie Paul Addison may be the "infant" not yet named on the 1850 census of Bradley Co., TN. His parents were Lot and Mahala Addison. I have not found them on the 1860 census, but they were living in Polk Co., TN, in 1870, but by then Lottie had left home. Lot Addison appears on the 1827 census of Franklin Co., GA, and it is believed that he was the son of John Addison, who does not appear on the tax list of Franklin after 1827. Lottie Paul Addison is the name on your gr grandfather's tombstone in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Whitfield Co., GA. All census records I have seen list him as Lot. He was married twice before he married your gr grandmother. His first wife was Sarah and his second wife was Lula and both of them are buried beside him. Your gr grandmother Lena Soseby was his third wife and after Lottie died in 1922, she married Paul H. Massey and moved to Walker Co., GA. Her maiden name appears on the death certificate of Dell Addison the daughter she and Lot had in 1921 and died in 1924. Lena and Lottie Addison's children are shown as stepchildren of Paul H. Massey on the 1930 census of Walker Co., GA.

The origins of the Brunson, SC, Addisons have always been cloudy. The last real record we have is of Alexander Black Addison, b. 1821 (an ancestor of mine). His son's middle name was Clifton (Jesse C. Addison), and may be related to that clan as well.

I've been trying to find any information I can on Addison graveyard in St. Helena Parish Louisiana after coming across it mentioned in a Pearson family bible. This has been the only mention I have ever found, and all that it says is that Charles Pearson b. October 20, 1808, died and is buried in Addison Graveyard, St. Helena LA.

If anyone knows any information they are willing to share about this graveyard, I would be very grateful.

Hi, I've been researching the Michigan Addison families from Bohemia, too, but the research I have indicates that the surname changed on ship manifest logs. Let's get in touch to see if we are researching the same families. Who knows, maybe I've been barking up the wrong tree.

I've been looking into two Addison families - Frank and Mary Macho and Martin and Catherine Dolasel, sometime resident in Greenfield and in Detroit. I've found only one naturalization doc that indicates the specific village in Bohemia. [I'll be in touch through my primary email address]

I have been trying to find out any information about the Addisons that came to Detroit in the mid 1850's. Were you able to find out why they left Bohemia? I know it's been a year or so since you posted the question, but I wondered if you were able to figure it out. There are quite a few Addisons buried in Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit. They have a website that gives death info. It's fascinating.
