Hi Adrian, Aguinaga is more common than you think. You are right it comes from the Basque part of Spain. The surname it itself has come to many parts of South America and a lot into Mexico. Aguinaga means "people who live near yew trees" There are several family crests for Aguinaga. Remember that they are different than say English crests. Spanish family crests are more military honors. There is a town in Northern Spain called Aguinaga and some wierd eel seafood associated to the surname. Good luck on your hunt most of my research if located in Jalisco, Mexico. Part of the Aguinaga family in Mexico are acutally two, one being European and the other native indian. tom

How I said, my mother is from Ojuelos, Jalsico. And the last names is Aguiñaga not Aguinaga. It has to have ñ,

And yes, that area is very close, I was personaly there, and it is a small town very close to San Luisa and Matanzas, and others palaces.

But the whole family immigrate to Mexico City were I actually am. But, I think my mother stiell has family with her last name in Ojuelos and other family aguiñaga moved to Santillo.
Hello Darlene,

We must me first cousins. I am the youngest daughter of Cornelio Aguinaga. My father passed away in 1984, drowned trying to save my sister. We migrated to Dallas in 1984 from Guadalajara, Jalisco. My parents Cornelio Aguinaga and Micaela Davila were originally from El Novillo, Jalisco, which is probably around 20 miles from Ojuelos and 5-10 miles from Matanzas. We are a family of 7 brothers (one passed away in 1987) and 3 girls. All of us live in the Dallas area. Your father also has another brother with the same name Pedro. Did your father lose contact with his family in Mexico after migrated to the US? I remember hearing stories about a brother that disappeared, so they named another son with the same name in his memory.

hello, I have been researching the Palacio family for quite some time and I would like to see if we may have a connection. My husband's father is Gilbert Palacio His parents were Ralph (Rafael) Magallanez(s) Palacio and Sarah Martinez. Ralph had one brother, Rufino, and one sister, Carmen, that I know of. As far as I can tell from census records, their father was Juan Palacio (listed as Jaun Palacio in census) and I think their mother's name was Marguerita. I know that Ralph and Juan both worked for the railroad in California, but I have been unable to trace them, or any other relatives back any further. If any of these names sound familiar to you, I'd love to exchange information. Thank you,
Cher Palacio
