Lori,
I did get your email and replied to it. My cousin Nancy has been to the cemetery in Lee, NY where the Warth's are buried. We would love to find a will for Marcus Warth. I have several newspaper articles mentioning the Reeves. Maybe your uncle can add information about our ancestors. I have the ship record for the Warth's plus things on all the children.

This is the listing for Marcus & Elisabeth Warth who are buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Lee, Oneida, New York.
Warth, Elizabeth, b.Dec. 7, 1787, d.Nov. 16, 1843, born at Ennenda, Switzerland
Warth, Marcus, b.Sep. 30, 1778, d.Dec. 24, 1844, born at Schwanden, Switzerland

Kathryn
Kathryn, this is so interesting! I did email you a few hours ago and now I'm wondering if you received my email? You can email me at: loridarmody@verizon.net, I don't think I have much information for you as my father, Richard Aikin ( Mack John changed the name to Aikin years ago from Aiken) has never had much information about his family. His older brother John Robert who is in our family genealogy has not passed. He was a great historian. Maybe we can put our heads together and try to get some answers. I would be willing to go to the cemeteries or whatever is needed and do what I can here as I still live in the area.

Lori, Thank you for contacting me. My email address is still the same - mmer2000@aol.com Please try again to contact me or give me your address and I will email you. I have been trying to find out for years why Marcus & Elisabeth Becker Warth went to Oneida Co., NY with some of their children and why they left some of their young daughters in New Jersey including my Gr.Gr.Grandmother, A. Catherine Warth. I know the daughter named Dorothea Warth, who married Jeremiah Reeves went to Oneida Co. with her parents along with the youngest brother, Marcus Warth Jr. The Hatfield's are descended from Marcus Warth Sr's daughter Dorothea Warth Reeves.

My Gr.Gr.Grandmother A. Catherine Warth married William Conover in New Jersey. A sister Verena Warth married Frederick Wendt in New Jersey. They all came to Cincinnati, OH in 1839 and then much later Marcus Warth Jr. also came to Cincinnati.

We think the Warth's possibly had Swiss relatives in Oneida Co., NY but we have no idea who they could have been. There just seems to be no good reason for the Warth's to move so far from Newark & Rahway, New Jersey leaving their girls behind. Also in Rahway, NJ was a daughter named Elisabeth Warth Baumgartner and a daughter named Ann Warth Schindler.

I have much more to tell you and many questions to ask you. Would you please try again to email me. Thanks.
Kathryn

My grandfather Emelio Torelli came from the Como Italy area, born around 1873. Was adopted as an infant by the D'iani Family, Peter Diani (Dianai?) Was given the choice to keep his birth name Torelli or accept the Diani name. He chose to keep the birth name. He came to US around 1913 and lived in the Massachusetts area, Framingham, Ashland. We have never been able to find out who his birth mother or father were. If anyone has any information we'd appreciate it :) Richard L Torelli

It has significanat informtion on several lines of the Duckworth family and mentions Charlotte Duckworth marries Thomas Aiken son of Ezekiel Aiken. I am a descendant of Ezekiel and have friends named Duckworth to whom I forwarded this information. Good luck, happy hunting. I know I have run across this name several times in my research. It has been almost 6 MORE years; however, if anyone is still looking, this may be of help, the link is: http://www.ncgenweb.us/transylvania/home_html/Duckworth-Fami...

How far back have you gone in your research? Rebecca Aitken my GGGGRandmother was married or partnered to James Truscott in Hill End in the 1870s. She was born 1840-1843 at Port Mcquarie. She had a brother who died as an infant and I havent been able to find any other information.
Cheryl

Thankyou for that information. This person you speak about is not the same one I have. Mine was born 1811 and married Sarah Smith Port McQuarie children born in 1840,s. This one you speak of was 30 when convicted and died 1836. Thanks though he may have been a relative.
Cheryl

If that does not work, I will send to you groundmail.

Did Ireland have a land title record system that would allow me to look up the site of the home my ancestors left?

Best regards, John D.
Hi. This may be of no use, but here is some information regarding possibly the same, or maybe different Robert Aiken:

Robert AIKEN was sentenced to life at the age of 30 for stealing 4 heifers. He was tried March 1818 in County of Antrim. He is described as 5’7" of dark complexion with brown hair and hazel eyes. He arrived in NSW on the 'Martha' on 24/12/1818. In the 1822 muster Robert was listed as a Government Servant to Captain Piper and living with his wife Ruth. His ticket of leave was granted in 1822.

On June 4, 1823 Robert was appointed Constable at Windsor, a position he resigned in 24 March 1824. However in January 1826 in consequence of purchasing stolen wheat his ticket of leave was taken from him. By the time he was applying for a new ticket of leave in December 1929 he was living at Patrick Plains and had two children in the colony, a girl seven and a boy three years of age and owned fourteen head of cattle. Robert died in 1836 at Patrick Plains on the property of Charles Forbes.

....

May have been a relation to your Robert, or possibly me?

Regards,

Robert Aiken
Hello,

My name is Robert James Aiken, Son of Robert Derek Aiken, Son of Robert Hunter Gordon Aiken. My family comes form the north Antrim coast, near a town called Portrush, approximately 10 miles from the Giant's Causeway.

I have started to investigate my family tree, as my father died 20 years ago last month, and my grandfather a number of years before that. I think I may be related to you, as when I was a child my father took us to South Carolina, and I distinctly remember being taken to the Aiken-Rhett Mansion. I think I recall being informed that it was my great, great, great, great, great grandfather who had started a railroad in South Carolina and his name was William Aiken.

Again, this is all very sketchy, as I was very young, and there are no members of my family left on my paternal side who know anything about this, hence why I am trying to decipher this information.

Please feel free to contact me and i will try to help you in any way I can, and I may ask you a few questions along the way too,if that was possible?

Regards,

Robert Aiken

David Aiken was born in Ireland June 17, 1786, died November 18, 1860. He was the son of James Aiken and Elizabeth Reid. James and Elizabeth had six sons and two daughters. David was the youngest. The others were John, Hugh, William, Margaret and Mary and two others names unknown. My prior message was wrong in that David worked for his BROTHER WILLIAM, not his Uncle.

My GG Grandfather William E. Aiken (son of David), was born in Winnsboro January 8, 1826. Died July 19, 1900.

I have a fairly good typed sketch of the entire family. If you will email me, I will try to scan it and send to you. JDM

My great randfather was William E. Aiken, a physician here in Winnsboro, SC. His father was David Aiken, also of Winnsboro but who had come from Ireland to Charleston, SC, and stayed for a while with his uncle. The uncle was a merchant and lived in what is today known as the Aiken-Rhett House. Family papers in my possession say that the home of the family in Ireland was about 20 miles from the "Giants Causeway" but I have not been able to pin it down any more than that. Can anyone help?

Family of Alexander AIKEN & Jane Mann BROWN in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

I'm looking for information on my distant cousins. My ancestor, Jane MANN (1844-?), came to Canada in the early 1900s from Dundee, Scotland. She brought her daughter, Jane Mann BROWN (1878-1963), with her. They appear on the 1911 census with Jane MANN's stepson/nephew Alexander BROWN in Toronto, along with Jane Mann BROWN's husband Alexander AIKEN, and Jane and Alexander AIKEN's two children (Eva, born 1906, and Alexander J., born 1908).

I've lost track of the family after that. Family stories spoke of a grandmother who came to Canada and who is buried in Ontario (I guess that's Jane MANN). But I can't find out when she died, and I can't find any information about the AIKEN children and their descendants, either.

Does anybody have more information on this family?

Hi - I appreciate that your message is some years old but wondered if you were still able to respond regarding the finding of the Aiken family bible. I am a decendant of that family and have been working on the family tree for many years. Do you still have the bible in your possession or has it been clain=med by another family member?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Peter Aiken

Edinburgh Scotland
