Joyce,
Is there any chance you are looking for Aitken? I think there are some Laughland-Aitken couples or couple.

Hi Diane. Just came across your message. My g.grandmother was Helen Aiton, sister of your g.grandfather John. She was born in Hurlford, 1857, to John Aiton and Mary Irvine. I have more info. going back to 1700's but will wait for your reply before digging it all up.

William I have information on the Ayton Family Society. It was formed in 1988 and my wife Brenda and I attended the first meeting. The Society is now well established. They publish a newsletter twice each year, they hold a reunion and general meeting once a year (in 2003 it will be in Edinburgh) and they have a membership list - and charge a membership fee - like all good Scots. I have more info if youu want it. Phone 902 - 566- 5693 PEI or e-mail me at draiton@gov.pe.ca.

Hi there i was trying to look into information conserning another relation when i came across you enquiry regarding your ancestry about John and Mary Aiton, you said her own name was Keirs, that was my grandmothers name also, unfortunatly i can`t give you much information about her as she had passed away before i was born, my sister Jean can possible give you more info than me, I can tell you this she was related to Keir Hardie, the man who helped form the Labour party, that if we are refering to the same lady.
Maybe we are and maybe were not,but you said she stayed in Cambuslang, well that`s where our grandparents came from to
My Father was called David he was the second son the oldest son was William there was two sisters Mary and jean, the other brothers name were James,Oliver,John,Tom,and Robert if you think we are going down the same path send me your reply, and we can chat some more.
Yours Sincerly
David Aiton
