I know this is a very old posting but I am also an Alba! I really never heard of anybody else with the same last name. I don't know much about my family due to my father not being very close to them. It's funny I lived in Glencoe, MN for about 10yr and never heard of an Alba while I lived there. I now live in TX. Please contact me if you get this message. mongola10@yahoo.com

Claudia

I have been curious about the origins of actress Jessica Alba's family myself. I have ancestors that were Kings of Alba (not certain if Alba was located in Spain or Italy), and I think this is where the name originated. Here in America its such an uncommon name, so the chances are that you're all from the same immigrant as Jessica Alba.

Does anyone have an acount on how many Alba immigrants came to America? Their names? Their settlements?

If anyone is interested I started a DNA Project Group for the Alba surname on ancestry.

http://groups.ancestry.com/group/alba

Personally, I can trace my relatives back to Spain but the trail ends there around 1879. Am dying to go back further!

You can get your DNA tested in number of places including ancestry.com's partner 23andme.com. I used dnatribes.com and familytreedna.com

Alba Family of Nueva Galicia>Jalisco>Aguascalientes>

I invite anyone researching the Albas of western Mexico to check out my paternal family tree. I'm discovering additional facts on the Albas every day.

My tree now reaches back more than two thousand years.

Here's a sample of what I have on just one Alba, my ancestor Maria Antonia Anna Alba Martines de Sotomallor:

En el segundo dia de Henero de 1734 bautize a Maria Anna que nacio en el Serro de los Gallos el dia siete de diciembre proximo pasado, hija legitima de Bernardo Alba y Efigenia Martines, Espanoles y vezinos de dicho puesto, fueron sus padrinos Antonio de Chabes y Maria Ramirez.

Maria’s place of birth is now spelled Cerro de Gallos, Aguacalientes. Gallos has long been a nickname for people from Aguascalientes, and may have been the name of an indigenous tribe at one time. The actual hill, or cerro is south of the state capital of Aguascalientes.

Also known as Mariana Alba. Her elder siblings:
Luisa Bernarda Alba born August 26, 1728 in Mexico City.
Micaela Susana de Alba born January 28, 1730 in Aguascalientes.
Andres Enrrico de Alba born August 14, 1731 in Aguascalientes.

Let's share what we have, and grow our trees even more.

My Maternal Family Tree with mtDNA results:
Hidalgo del Parral>Huejotitan, Chihuahua/Villa Ocampo, Durango 1600- Rodriguez/Montoya/Caballero/Porras/Armendaris/Calahorra/Chaves/Cobos/Contreras/Caro/Corral/Dominguez/Gallardo/Gutierrez/Gonzales/Villalobos/Hierro/Ayala/Peres/Acosta/Vasquez/Munoz de Olbera/Najera/Olguin/Robledo/Serecede/Revilla

Rodriguez/Montoya/Contreras Maternal Tree/ Durango>Chihuahua 1700-

Paternal Family Tree with 126 photos, yDNA and 10 stories:
Parras de la Fuente>Rio Nuevo (La Madrid), Coahuila 1600-1880:Ramirez/Romo/Morales/Razo/Velis/Ybarra
San Antonio>Floresville>Bracketville>Del Rio>El Paso,Texas 1500-1923: Rubalcava/Gonzales/ Hernandez/Perez
Mexico City>Jalisco>Aguascalientes 1500s-1800: Moctezuma/Navarro/Romo de Vivar/Ruiz de Esparza/Cortez/Alba/Tiscareno de Molina/Becerra/Valdivia/Valadez/Macias/Torres/Tiscareno de Molina/ Hurtado de Mendoza/Galindo
Ramirez/Romo Family of Coahuila>Texas Paternal Tree yDNA R1b1b2a1bc

If you tested mtDNA B2, I invite you to join my rapidly growing B2 project at Family Tree.

Benito, Have I written to you before?

My grandfather had a brother by the name of Benito and he and his brother Guadalupe married sisters from Kansas. My grandparents lived off and on in Kansas and some of my uncles and aunts were born there. Horton included. Could you be a decendant of my great uncle Benito? Although, I believe he stayed in Mexico. I was recently told that he had a shoe factory there.

Bertha (nanabertha1@yahoo.com)

I know my parents met in Guadalajara, Jalisco. I know my father had or has at least one brother and maybe a sister. My baptism certificate says Blanca Elizabeth De Alba. My mother says I was named after my father's sister or aunt. I have never met him. I think he might live in CA. I was told my father was of Spanish descent although I don't know if this means his parents or great, great, great grandparents. Any info is appreciated.
