Interesting to see posts from two of my cousins (Danny Loiselle and Frank Allix). I remember my grandmother, Florence Margurite Allix, nee Cary, talked about Gordon quite often. I also remember meeting Aunt Betty at least once. Grandma Florence and Grandpa Frank Allix landed in Canada on August 31, 1930 when my father John Phillip was three years old. Dad had two siblings born in Canada, Patricia (Danny's mom) and Robert, Frank's father. I have two sisters, Beverley, and Laura.

Donna

Hello, I just started my family tree & my grandfather's name is Alfred F. Alix who lived in Tiverton, R.I., he married my grandmother, Bernadette Rose Desrosiers, of Fall River, Mass., so he may have been from Fall River also. I was 10yrs when he passed away. I don't know much about his family. I have his obituary and one of the pallbearers was a man named Edmour Alix, I don't know what relation they were & I don't know anything about his parents. Thank you for your time.

Patricia,

Just this morning I received a wealth of information on our family from cousin Beverly along with an ancestry software that she uses.

I have spent the morning trying to update the files with my family information from my Father's side. I will figure our how to present this in a meaningful manner and send you what information I have.

I have to say that until I "accidentally" contacted a Laura Allix in England (University of Chichester) last week instead of our cousin Laura in St Catharines Ontario, I had little interest in my ancestry. In the past few days I have suddenly become obsessed with it.

My email by the way is loiselle.daniel@videotron.ca

I look forward to corresponding with you more. I will try to reach my Mum later on today, she's a very active 78 years young and I know that she will be very excited that we've communicated.

I believe his parents were Henri Rainville and Anastasie Messier. From your message and other information it appears he had at least two sisters (Marie and Rosienne). Do you have any further information on the family of Henri Rainville and Anastasie Messier??? Much Appreciated!

You are a descendant of Toussaint Alix, the first of our line to settle in Canada after the war. He got permission from the King of France and was allowed to settle by the British. If you are still checking this board, I would like to trade information.

My grandfather had a sister Mary Louise Papillon, later known as Flagg, who married a man named Henry Alix. I believe she died and was buried in Pascoag, Rhode Island but I haven’t been able to verify this yet. I know they had at least one daughter named Marie Eva Mederise Alix. I believe Henry and Mary Louise divorced and Henry remarried a woman named Marguerite. I believe he later died in Arlington, MA. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if there is a connection. Henry married my grandfather's sister, Mary Louise Flagg. She died in 1957 so I don't think this is the Marie to which you are referring. MaryLouise only had one daughter that I'm aware of, named Marie Eva Mederise Alix. I do know that Henry and MaryLouise divorced and he remarried a woman named Marguerite Roach. Henry died 11/14/1966 in Arlington, MA. He was born in 1887 in Danielson, CT. Parents were Abraham and Sophie (Grenier) Alix.

Sorry.

None of the other names on this mentioned on this board are familiar to me, although I do have an extensive Alix family history at my disposal, so I must belong to a different branch of the family.
