Looking for info/descendants of Myrick Allen born in Warren County, NC. He was the son of John Allen & Middleton Myrick. He married Sarah Porter, daughter of Dr. James B. Porter of Mecklenburg Co. They lived in NC and in York Co, SC before moving to Marshall Co. TN. Myrick died in 1844 in TN. I cannot find where he is buried. No records in books in library for Marshall, Bedford, Maury or Williamson Counties.

I have a letter written by Myrick Allen's granddaughter Margaret (Maggie) Josephine Allen, that mentions this family. Maggie was my GG Grandmother. Just starting to research this family. Would love to share!

My ggg-grandfather was Joel Cherry, who married Nancy Allen, daughter of John Allen. I have been trying to find out who Joel's parents were. Would you be willing to exchange information with me?

Hello Carol....which child of Joel & Nancy are you dsscended from? Since I started the genealogy game several years ago, I have run into several cousins: Deb Degucci comes down from John Cherry; Annis Dickerson comes down from Mary Cherry; Georgette Lipford and myself are gg grandchildren of Joel Thomas Cherry. One thing we have in common is that no one has any knowledge of the parents of Joel. There is a connection to Martin County, NC but I have yet to pinpoint it. There is no proof that Joel was born in Virginia. It appears more likely he was born in Martin County or South Carolina. I have been in communication with John H. Cherry (Cherry Cousins Clearing House) and it appears Joel is a son of Joshua Cherry. There is documentation that he was asked by his sister Mary to collect a debt in SC around 1795 owed their father's estate. When the debt was collected, it was done by Jacob Cherry who appears to be another son (born 1752). The SC census for 1800 shows Jacob's household and several unknown males (Joel's age). Joel does not appear in any census until 1810 (Joel,Nancy, first 4 kids). Joel & Nancy named two of their children Mary and Joshua. If I can be of further assistance, please write me direct.
