Hi Russell,

Thank you for your reply. There are actually alot more children from Merab, I would have to find my lists if that is of interest to you.

I note that youhave James as being an illigitimate child of Earl Annesley, do you mind if I ask how that was verified? I looked at the like you supplied for Dorothy and it says she died in 1801, as it seems the Earl did as well, James Convict records and death certificate list his birth year as 1801, so just trying to match that up. Also if James was born 1801, and had 3 younger sibling, but Dorothy died in 1801???????? If this is the correct association, does that mean he was actually born pre 1801?

As for his crime, he was convicted of the crime of "stealing apparel" according to the records. Further than that I do not know. It also list a physical description of him being short with ruddy complection. Beyond this, I know no further details. Certainly, I doubt his family (ie kids) knew little of his past as his death certificate is very basic in detail compared to other I have seen of the same era.
Thank you for your reply and I look forward to hearing from you again,

Cheers Tammy
I'm a descendant through his granddaughter Mary Ann Annesley who married my great grandfather - she was born in 1856
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...
James Annesley was the son of Earl Annesley - the Annesleys were the premier peer of the Irish Peerage - he and 3 brothers were illlegitimate and it is difficult to discover anything much about his crime - Peter Mayberry's site on Irish Convicts states "Various".
http://members.pcug.org.au/~ppmay/cgi-bin/irish/irish.cgi
His name is spelt Ansley on Convict records - makes you think that they did all they could to keep his identity a 'secret'
He could not assume a title as his father was not married to James's mother, Dorothy McIlroy
http://thepeerage.com/p24747.htm
Find his name and click pop up pedigree.
Post anything else you come across on other sites, please.
On the Australian Royalty site it states incorrectly that John Annesley, his son, and wife Merab Wenban did not have children - they did ! Mary Ann Annesley who married James Jackson b 1854 Castlecomer, Kilkenny. Ireland.

Correction. I now strongly believe the Niedersachsen links are incorrect, and that the family probably stayed in Ballyfodrin over the period concerned. I have been quite unable to verify Niedersachsen data. I do not want to mislead other researchers.

Glynn,

Here are two Annesley lines, one containing your Lawson and Mary, the other Arthur and Rachel. I'd be pleased to know when Charles, son of Arthur and Rachel was born?

Both these families are from the Drumcree area of Armagh, but I have not found the connection between them. Niedersachsen, incidentally, was in the Hanover area in Germany, and at the time the Georgian kings of Britain were from Hanover. So I suspect that Michael's family were in the service of the Crown, maybe soldiers.

Descendants of Thomas Annesley
1 Thomas Annesley b: 1693 in Antrim d: 1747 in Belfast,
Your best solution is request a male descendant of James Annesley to submit his DNA sample for testing. By doing that you will discover which of the other 15 or so Annesley trees your family belong to. Visit www.familytreedna.com

Good luck.
Shane Annesley

John, I think thee were five Annesleys who married Hunnifords/Honeyfords. Samson son of Dynes(1780 - 1848) son of Lawson (1780-1812) married Jane d of Charles Honeyford (1816-1865) and Margaret May in 1860.
Arthur Annesley son of Michael married Rachel H, Jane's sister, in 1859.
Mary A married Benjamin H (Born 1817) son of Gregory in 1851.
Gregory H (1827-1874) the above Benjamin's brother married Abigali A in 1859. Of any interest?

Sarah
Welcome to the Annesley's. I don't know the family that your fiance has come from, but that doesn't mean much. My ancestors were in order from my Dad up (as far as I know at this stage) Frederick John b 1925, son of Frederick Lawrence b 1903. His father was David Joseph b 1862 in NSW. he married Mary A Brady in 1888. His father was John Annesley b 1631 in NSW m Merab Wenban. John's father was James Annesley/Ansley b c1801 in Dublin in Ireland. He was sent out here as a convict. After that I am not sure, I am only going on information from someone else related to me through Merab Wenban. I only know that a lot of the Annesley's live in the Lithgow, Hartley area and a lot of them still do. I know I have cousins of my father's living in Ben Bullen, Cullen Bullen and Caperty still. My dad was born and raised in the Redfern area. They are pretty much spread all over and I was under the same impression that we are pretty much all related. Thanks again for you message
Cheryl

Terry

have only just started researching family and found your message. I had an uncle Jack (David John Terrance) Annesley, who was actually a cousin or 2nd cousin of my dad Fred Annesley. Uncle Jack was a short man who had suffered badly from arthritis until he had a hip replacement. I did have some information re: birth date and deat date and can't find the site again on the net. I think I forgot to bookmark it. I know Jack had two sons (Laurie ? and Terry) one who lived in Darwin for a while. Are you related to this man. He was a lovely person who used to visit quite often. He drive a cab parttime. I would love to hear from you re: this.
Thanks
Cheryl Jeans (nee Annesley)

My family owned and operated it until my father closed it after WWII.

It was the first steam plated mirror works in the USA, and was in business for several hundred years. They did business with the patroons, and represented many of the Hudson River school artists.

If this message catches your attention, please email me for any other info at jeannelucas@cox.net.

There are many records available over the internet but one that you may not be able to see is Burkes Peerage. Its a book and most libraries have it in the UK. I know this as I have read the part about my family. If you would like I can check to see who was Earl around the time you mention and send you what it says so you can do some more searches.
You may have already have the information you need so let me know if you're still looking.
regards
Danielle Lancashire
Marcus Gilstrap

I am the daughter of Marcus Maurine Gilstrap. His middle name was not Maurine. It was Ray and everything I have found so far on the net has it as Maurine. I am trying to find a way to add information about our line but I am real new at this, computer and all so I need someone to help me find my way around. I have already made contact with one relative from our line I never knew and she has sent great pictures of my great great grand parents. I am trying to locate living relatives from Georgia from the Lewis Gilstrap line.
