Thank you, for the input. As I stated earlier, I did a search of the MN birth records (requested multiple records by date) of a female born on 3/21/1912. Only got one birth certificate and child was unnamed on the certificate.

Agree that it's a stretch that Ilmi is also Hilda, but I am willing to email you the court records and birth certificate. Court records contain the only background information I have on Hilda.

I gather that you are the granddaughter of great granddaughter of Ferd Junes and his second wife (not Ilmi) so you may have no interest in Ilmi.

I am not sure if the Ancestry website wants me to provide my email address, but I don't know exactly how to provide you the information if you desire it.

That's interesting. I will have to do a little searching on that name and see if I can find anything.

I do know that Ilmi had her four children in 1931, 1934, 1938 and 1940 and I believe she lived in Wadena County Minnesota all of that time until she moved to Washington State in 1948.

I found the following in "U.S. City Directories" for 1938-1939 in Duluth, MN:

"Antilla Hilda maid 2116 W 3d"

So, Ilmi may have gone by the name of Hilda. What do you think?

I've never seen any other references to Hilda Antilla.

Hello.

Ilmi was born on March 21, 1912, according to her obituary. As far as I know she never went by the name of Hilda LaBarre so I'm not sure if this is the person you are looking for information on.

Ilmi was married to Ferd Junes around 1930 and later divorced. Not sure of the exact year but probably some time around 1948. My ggrandmother married her husband Ferd in 1948. Below is Ilmi's obituary. In the 1920 census I show that she has one brother named Edward.

ILMI T. JUNES, 81, RETIRED HOTEL HOUSEKEEPER

GRANGEVILLE Ilmi T. Junes of Grangeville, a retired hotel housekeeper, died of congestive heart failure at Syringa General Hospital in Grangeville. She was 81.

She was born March 21, 1912, at Duluth, Minn., to Herman Gustav and Mary Salonnen Antilla.
Around 1920, the family moved to Wadena County, Minn., where she attended school.
She married Ferdinand Junes Jan. 31, 1930, and the couple lived in the Menagha, Minn., area for several years. They were later divorced.
She moved to Spokane, Wash., in 1948, and worked for a time at the Boyd-Walker Sewing Machine Company at Spokane.
She then worked in housekeeping at the Victoria Hotel in Spokane until retiring in 1974.
In 1975 she moved to Grangeville and had lived at the Grangeville Care Center since.
Survivors include three sons, Harvey and Ruben Junes, both of Lewiston, and Archie Junes of Grangeville; a daughter, Thelma Ward of Coos Bay, Ore.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
An infant son and daughter, a grandson and a brother died previously.
Visitation hours are from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Noland Funeral Home in Grangeville.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Prairie View Cemetery in Grangeville, with the Rev. Gary Thesan officiating.

My birthmother, born 3/21/1912, according to adoption papers filed in Rock County Court, Janesville, Wisconsin, was Hilda LaBarre. Papers say she was born in Minnesota. Did birth record search some years ago and only one girl born on 3/21/1912 to Herman Antillo and Mary Salonen in Duluth, MN. However, birth certificate did not have child's name on it. So, Ilma could be the daughter who would be 7 or 8 in the 1920 census. Found Herman and Mary in the 1910 census, but couldn't find them in the 1920 census. Didn't realize Herman might be middle name. So, I could be wrong but the adoption records show I was made a ward of the State of Wisconsin in June, 1941, and Hilda was present in the court room. Could Hilda, born in 1912, be Ilma? Said Hilda had two brothers and one sister. One brother died while digging a well. Second brother died of diabetes. Sister had two children. That's about all I know but am willing to share further information if you are interested. Otherwise, thanks for the note.

Did she have a sister named Ilmi?
I am looking at an obituary for Ilmi whose parents were Gustav Herman and Mary Salonnen Anttila. Ilmi lived in Duluth, Mn until the family moved to Wadena County in 1920.

If this is the family you are looking for, Gustav's father was Gustaf A Anttila and his mother was Mary or Maria Welhemina Kahkonam. They came to the US in 1891.

I am looking for information on my g grandfather Eugene Anttila who was Gustav or Gustaf A grandson.

My great grandfather's name was Eugene Anttila and I believe he was born abt 1910.

I do not know who his parents are but I do know in the 1920 Census he was living with his grandparents Gustaf and Maria Anttila. Gustaf and his family came to the US in 1891 and first lived in Becker County, MN. They then moved to Wadena County sometime between 1895 and 1900.

Gustaf A. born abt 1850, died 1921
Maria (Mary)Welhemina Kahkonam born abt 1848., died 1925
They had nine children

Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.

Hello - I recently found official Army Discharge papers in an antique store for Henry O. Antilla and would like to get these back into the family. He was born Feb. 8, 1922 in Wing, North Dakota. He lived in Bovey, Minnesota and went to school there. He also listed an Ohio address as a permanent address prior to going into the Army. He served from 1942 to 1946. My wife's family is from Marquette, MI. Her grandparents were Axel Antilla, born in Finland in 1880, and Beda Johnson, born in Republic, MI in 1888. They had a farm near Republic. If there is a connection I would like to share information.

What? The name wasn't Williams? You know that Elsie husband went to claim social security at age 65 and found out that his name was really JOHNSON!!! And he was a year younger! He needed to legally change his name to ANDERSON.

So, no, I don't know that story about their name not being WILLIAMS! I can't wait to hear from you!

My grandmother was Ellyne. I remember staying at Elsie's house when I was young. We are searching for the same family! I live In Minneapolis and would sure like to know what you know. The only Auntie alive now is Auntie Eline and she is in real poor health. Did find out that Their Fathers name really wasn't Williams. Hope to hear from you soon.Heidi

Hello Potential Cousin! I am the grandaughter of Elsie Irene Williams, her mother is Ina Antilla. My grandma was born in Diamondville, WY but moved to Soudan, MN as a little girl and lived their all her life. She had five sisters (Ester, Bernice, Ellen, Estelle and Eline) and one brother (Edwin). Oh, another thing. My grandmother's brother had a different last name than hers. He was Edwin Kollin and she was Williams. I am unsure if Ina was married twice. My dad thinks that his great grandmother was Kollin though. I don't know how this all fits together. I am so excited with the possibility that you have more information! Please write soon!

My grandmothers real name is Margaret who is married to a Antilla, I don't know if it is the same she is adopted and lost her parents when she was young so we don't know much about her family. I always thought her name was Jean but found out that her real name is Margaret so maybe this will help.
