Charles Arnt + Mary Foree

Charles and Mary were born in Russia in the early 1850's. They came to WI in 1855. I am looking for information on their children: Mary b. 1872 Russia, Julia M. b. 1875 WI, Anna b. 1878 WI, Maud J. b. 1880 WI, Samuel A. b. 1882 WI, Lee (my grandfather) b. 1885 WI, Matilda b. 1886, WI, Susan b. 1888 WI and Laura b. 1890, WI. These are the only children I could find. Between 1880 and 1900, much of the family moved to Pierce County, WA. From there they spread to Oregon and California. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time, Sandy

Hi,

Does your dad mention a cousin Henry? My ggfather was sponsored by his uncle Conrad Arndt and came to the US. He lived with Conrad and Katherine and his cousins. His uncle die and Henry married his aunt and raised his cousins. Henry and Katherine had a son they named Conrad, Katherine later died in childbirth. Henry married Amelia Scheidt and had another 6 children, one of which is my maternal grandmother, Hilda Arndt.

Hi Michael,

I believe your great-grandfather John may be my maternal grandmother's older brother. Where are you located? Some of the children/grandchildren of her siblings live in the Beatrice/Lincoln NE area.

Please email me privately with the names of your Arntt grandparent and your parents' names and I'll check with my mother and grandmother.

If there is a connection, I also have information about John's parents and grandparents.
I have a family tree given to me by my dad listing a Henry Arndt. My dad's father was Conrad Arndt, however the surname has always been spelled Arntt. Our family is from Beatrice and other parts of Nebraska. I presently live in San Angelo, Texas. Contact me if you are interested in chasing down any of the leads I happen to have on other Arntts.

I am descended from Henry Arntt who farmed near Harbine.
Arndt is the proper spelling, but rumour has it that Henry changed the spelling when he came through Ellis Island around the turn of the century.

Henry came to Nebraska from Hussenbach, Russia to live with his uncle, who I believe was Conrad Arndt, married to Katherine Fladen (?). Conrad died and Henry married Katherine, they had one son, Conrad, and she died while giving birth to twin boys, both of whom also died. The three of them are buried near the family farm, at a church that is no
longer used. I don't have the name of the church handy.

Henry and his wife Amelia are buried in the Fairbury cemetery.
