Hi,

I'm going to be in LA for business in a few weeks and I'd be interested in seeing Holger's grave or any other landmarks if possible. I found the Ascension Lutheran Church website: http://www.lutheransonline.com/servlet/lo_ProcServ/dbpage=pa...

Do you think Holger might be buried on those church grounds? Do you happen to remember the Aronson address on Deane and 57th?

Thanks.

John in Denver

Dora and Wolf Aronson were my great-uncle and great-aunt. My grandmother was Rebecca Aronson Matlin. She was Dora's sister. My cousins Arthur and Irving lived in the Bronx and we saw them quite often. My father who was also named Arthur Herbert (Matlin) and Arthur were very close. They were called big Arthur and little Arthur. Irving had a son named Jimmy and Arthur had 5 children. Both Arthur and Irving are now deceased. We used to spend all of the holidays together. Would love to hear from you.

Regarding the marriage of Jenny Carolina Bjorkman to Carl Peter Barkander:

When I was going through the Ripsa Vigsel, I thought I found a double wedding on September 13, 1881, where Elin married Herman and her sister Jenny Caroline married Emil Ferdinand Sundstrom.

My references are:
Ripsa Vigsel (marriages) [1881-1881 image 2] and [1861-1885 image 22]. One reference is to the bans and the other is to the marriage. I was using the LDS microfilm source.

I don't read Swedish but except for this what I found you have confirmed.

Hi Anna!

Nice to hear from you. Since 2010-08-11, I have found great grand children and their children after Friden (Fred) and Maria(Mary). I have contact with them in Facebook, and I'm going to se some of them in August. Maria Ottosdotter, born 1868-09-23. She emigrated 1887. And Friden Aronson, born 1867-08-20. He emigrated 1889. If you can find more info about these two, I would appreciate it.

regards
Lejf Johansson
Falun
Sweden

If you have anything about your grandmother, Aileen, you would like added to the tree I will be happy to do so. I loved the picture of Gustaf and the picture of Gordon, Holger and Richard. Do you know anything about Alan Nils? Do you know anything about Harriett Aronson-Babcock?

johnaronsonshma@comcast.net
Hi,

I had a look at the emigration DVD EMBIAS and got too many hits on both Fred and Maria for me to say which one is the right one.

Do you have any more information?

Here are the results:
Maria Ottosdotter Frisk, b. 15 JUN 1866. Emigrated 1882
Anna Marna Ottosson Ryd, b. 20 MAR 1863. Emigrated 1884
Mathilda Ottosson Salin, b. 17 JAN 1865.
This is Gordon's son / Holgar's grandson. Sorry I've been away from this board awhile. I do have a pretty good amount of data from when I originally tracked down Holgar to his grave back in 2004. It's in Inglewood Cemetery. I took photos of it as well as his last known residence from his death certificate in Inglewood, Los Angeles, CA.
You can reach my father at: garonson@peoplepc.com. Again, I will try to have any photos scanned and available by this Christmas.

Here's another undated photograph from my father's collection taken in Woodway Park, WA. Pictured are my Dad, Gordon Aronson, atop the shoulders of his Uncle Gus. Gus was the eldest brother of Holger, and Holger was the youngest of four. Gus lost his right arm and leg possibly in a train accident around the age of 14 (although not 100% on these facts). Even with his disability he worked in a Navy shipyard during WWII and later as a lumberjack. My father recalls him building a bicycle for him from used parts during the war shortage.

Finally got around to uncovering some old photos. The back of this one reads "Don, his Dad and brother Dick at Mr. Whitcombe's swimming pool. June 1939" To clarify, that is Gordon, his father Holger, and Gordon's half-brother Dick who was 20 years older than Gordon and Holger's son from his first marriage. Apparently the property was owned by a Mr. Whitcombe who developed the Woodway Park area on the Puget Sound north of Seattle, WA

Alan's mom went by the name of Thelma. Was her middle name Faye? Did she use the name Faye with family? Do you think her name might have been Thelma Faye? She died about five years ago when she was around 93 years old. She was from Kansas City Missouri.

Alan and Thelma lived in Inglewood on East Fairview Blvd right on the border between Los Angeles and Inglewood, which was a few miles east of LAX.

I always thought Alan's dad was named Niles because that is Alan's middle name. Alan said his dad went to The Boston School, was an attorney and died in 1948 when Alan was three and Thelma was 35. I remember when Thelma turned 50
because Alan told her she represented a half a century of progress. He thought he was funny.

When I was little they lived by me on Dean Avenue in Los Angeles and went to Ascension Lutheran Church where Alan went to elementary school. Did you go to church with them while you were visiting? Did you go to the beach? To Hollywood and the Sunset Strip? I was in Illinois that year otherwise I would have met you.

Alan never married and has no children but he went with the same lady for years and years and years.

I just called Alan's cell phone but I got his voice mail and then I called his land line but it is disconnected. Maybe he finally moved to Eureka after just talking about it for so many years. I hope he calls me back. I also sent him a text message. He hasn't replied. Argh!!

Please post some contact info for the Bjorkman family, do you have any contacts for someone from that association who might be interested meeting a traveler like me?

Also, a few years ago my father I looked up Holger's mother's death record in the Suffolk County court house in Massachusetts. It says she died of Typhoid Fever. I have a scan of that.

John

I also remember that the house when Faye and Alan Aronson lived in the summer of 1969 was very close to the L.A. airport. Is that correct? (It was my first airplane flight, and I was flying from Spokane Washington to California to spend a month as a Counselor in training at a camp in the San Bernadino Mountains. I think Alan or Faye probably drove me up there from L.A.).

y It was the summer I was 16 and his mother, Faye, was worried about what my mother would think about Alan taking me for a ride on the back of his motorcycle. I can still remember Faye's fretting about that.
(My next, and only ride on a motorcycle, was on the back of Scotty McLennan's, when I got to Yale 9n the fall of 1969....and that is memorable only in that Scotty was one of the real life Yale people upon whom Gary Trudeau based specific Doonesbury characters. Scotty is now the Stanford University Chaplain....but this has nothing to do with Aronsons.)

hi, I cannot believe it. i am the eldest child and daughter of Virginia Joyce Aronson, daughte of Holgar William and Helen Tellegen aronson.
I keep touch with his son's (Richard William) Aronson's children, my first cousins, and attended Dick's funeral.

I know of Alan Aronson, as i met him in California as a teenager when I stayed briefly in the summer of l966 with him and his mother in L.A. (he is two years older than I), but have been unable to locate him since. (I tried last summer when I was in southern california. I remember Uncle Dick quite clearly from childhood visits with my family. My mother told me that she had a half brother named Gordon, but had no idea whatever happened to him or where he was, but I believe she said she met him when her father was with the (Prudential?) insurance co. in nyc and they lived in (West?) orange NJ. this would have been sometimes in the mid to late 930's. I also have the large Bjorkman (Holgars father was a daugher of Elin Bjorkman of Sweden), family tree which goes back to the 1700's in Sweden. And there is an active Bjorkman family association in Sweden which has reunions every five years.

Abraham was 44 years old in 1910 - (according to the 1910 census -) he was born around 1860's or 70's - remember
the dates are not accurate. Mr great grandma and all her
family (siblings) supposedly were born in the same year.
Impossible. Dates are inaccurate. We know that Abraham
S. Aronson had a son named Bernard H. Aronson who was
born in 1898 so the 1860's , 1870's would be accurate.
We know of Bernard's heirs - his son was Dr. Gerald ARonson, who is now 83 years old; you may email me
at timid516@aol.com and maybe we can find more.
New york is not that far away and many of the cousins may have migrated there or came their from Ellis Island and then dispersed. What interests me is the Suwalki connection. my Greatgrandma's family hailed from there.
Write back.
timid516

Nope, haven't been able to get in contact with her. Think she might be married and changed her last name but I've seen alot of her matches online, under Sindy Paradise, but nothing about her current status.

Aronson in Canton, Hartford Connecticut

I'm searching for relatives for Fred L. and Mary (Maria)Aronson. They lived at the Census 1910 in Canton. They had three children; Axel A, Hilda F.(Hildur F),my grandmothers cousin, and Arthur R. Both Fred L. and Mary (Maria) emigrated from Sweden around 1888. Her maden name was Maria Ottosson, born 1868. I know that Axel A, married to Rose A. Lagier, and Arthur R, married to Majorie, are dead, but in theirs obituaries several children and grandchildren are named. I have no info about Hilda F (Hildur F.), married to Clarence Fairfield, after 1920 Census. I know that she had a little boy around 1920- 1925.
I hope someone recognize these people.

I finally figured out the use of the name Neta Halevi Aronson, father of Michael Aronson. Using a number of Jewish sources, I found that Neta is the Baltic-Yiddish equivalent of Nate, which makes sense since a number of his grandchildren, etc. were named Nathan; another version of Neta is for females, which confused me since our great-great grandfather was a male! I have corrected the name on the myheritage.com web site and list him as Nathan "Neta, Nete" Aronsohn. The variation on the surname follows the document for Michael and his son, my grandfather, Samuel when they immigrated to the USA and were listed as tailors for their professions. I have not seen any relatives listed with the double A, i.e., Aaronson.

I am now trying to find out the name of Neta's wife.

It seemed that our relatives when they made out immigration papers, used Russia as the country of origin when in reality, they were residents of Lithuania or Latvia that may have been under Russian domination.

Hello,

I am trying to find out my family's history on my mother's side of the family, starting with her father.

My Grandfather's name is Irwin Sumner Aronson. He was born July 20, 1926. There are 2 Irwin Aronson's on Ancestry. My grandfather is the one in Massachusetts, not NY.

He had a sister named Selma and a brother named Lester.

My great Grandfather I think was named Jacob and his wife was Mary. But I can't swear to that one.

My grandfather is still alive but has dementia and I can't find anything out on that end. I don't know anything about Lester and Selma has passed away.

If anybody can help me I would greatly appreciate it. My e-mail is valskis@yahoo.com

Thanks,
Valerie

Small world. I have an extensive tree on myheritage.com, SANDLER-ARONSON FAMILY, which includes the Aronson side of the family. Send me your email so I can invite you to peruse the site. Any additions or corrections have to be added by me to the software. My email is dovbenhos@cox.net. Michael's father was Neta Halevi Aronson. My grandfather Samuel Aronson married Gussie Jannis. The website has photos of Michael Aronson and Ada (Ida)Schwartz Aronson as well as Nathan Aronson and Mollie Nass Aronson and my grandparents. I don't have any photos of the other siblings, e.g., Lena Ivers, Celia (Ida) Kronengold, Becky Fried, Irving, or Jacob. I believe that Michael's sibs were Samuel and Victor but I have no other information on them.

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure if there is a connection, but I will give you some information. My great-grandfather was Solomon A(a)ronson aka Simon, born approx 1842. He was married to Rachel Krasnipolsky, and they immigrated to NY from Suwalki, Poland in 1885 with 4 children; David, Sam, Mary, and Eliuh. This is the district that is right over the border from Lithuania, so it may not have been too far from Kovno. My grandfather, and greatgrandfather David all had very dark wavy hair and while I am not aware of any redheads in the family, I suppose it's possible. I do know that there were cousins here but have been unable to make connections thus far. I would be interested in seeing the picture if you would like to send it. Thanks for the info.
Ellyn S.

Hi,
My great grandfather's name was Joseph Aronson. He was probably born in the 1860's-1870's in a small town in Kovno district, in Lithuania. He married Leah Faiga Matuk and they came to the USA (NYC, then Boston (Chelsea)) soon afterwards, around 1890. He died around 1942. Joseph had a reddish beard. He may have had a cousin named Simon. That's all I know. Does it sound like the same Simon? I have a picture of Joseph if it's any help. I'm traveling to Lithuania this summer.
Joshua Karson
