Hi, My name is Angie, I live in Chula Vista right now. I was born in Santa Maria Calif. So here goes . . My family is Aros too and my great great grandfather was Adolfo (or Adolfus) Aros and his first wife was Paula (Paulita) Cota, they married in 1862 the 23rd of May . . they had 2 children a male and female. The male died young the female lived alot longer. Adolfo was born in Mexico and Paula was born in 1867 Arizona. I can't find any records on her, birth or death. I don't know if she died while they were married or divorced. Adolfo later married Gertrude I don't know what year) Ramirez .. her maiden name. She too was born in Arizona. They bore my great grand mother Maria Elvira or Elidia Ramirez Aros and well of course that is my Mom's grandmother. Maria Elvira or Elidia Aros Ramirez married Policarpio Ramirez (yes that name comes back, it is common but they aren't blood related, just by married) and that of course was my Mom's grandmother. My great-grandmother Mary (Maria Elvira to but never married Miguel Castaneda Soltero . Anyway my mother Raquel Ramirez was born to them and then when my mom married Francisco Sanchez Aranda I was one of 7 children born to them. How far of research have you made on Aros familia, besides in Arizona and their main roots in Mexico? Does anything I have mentioned sound or maybe close or be any hits to link us???
Feel free to let me know.
Thank you, Angie
- I just made contact with many more Aros family in Arizona that are related to me. My great Uncle Joe or Jose Aros in Phoenix about 92-93 years old. Please let me know . . .

Re: Antonio Aros Branch

Hello Vincent,
My name is Sandra and I am trying to find the roots of my Great Grandfather, Calistro Arros. I'm spelling the last name as we have found it in church records dated 1898 and 1899. It is at that time that Calistro was changing his name to Edward O'Haro, the reason is a mistery to us. He married Antonia Preciado in Firebaugh California and they had four children all with the last name of O'Haro. Prior to his marriage to Antonia he had an affair with Marcialla Buelna in 1890( it is believed)in the Gonzales California area) and my Grandfather, Joseph B.O'Haro is a result of that union.
My cousins have a story handed down to them that there Grandfather Edward aka: Calistro's mother was named Rosiaro and after being widowed she married an "anglo" whom was very mean to Calistro, weather this was the reason for the name change I have no idea. What I do know is that my Grandfather Joseph was born in April of 1891 in Gonzales California and has always been known as Joseph B. O'Haro. I have found my grandfather in the 1900 census under the O'Haro name with other half siblings using their father's names Hernandez and Soberanes.
The only other information I have on my Great Grandfather is that he was born on October 14, 1860 here in California and I beleive that he was born an Arros. If you have any information that may help me in my quest to find out the orgin of this Grandfather of mine it would be appriciated.
I can be reached at my e-address: sandysheddy@gmail.com

Sandy:-)

Re: Loustaunau.

OK, my research says that all the Loustaunau's originally came from South France or mid-atlantique-Pyrinees region and for that I was able to pin-point the towns where most of the original family came form: Asaspt-Arros, Pau, Oloron and Bayone. You can also check with lots of the Loustaunau's still living there. Bertrand the son of a Pierre and Marie emigrated to Malaga, Spain (like you state) and the first Joaquin was born in Malaga, Spain, from there Joaquin and some other brothers went on to Argentina, Uruguay, Peru and finally Sonora, Mexico where he married and established, may be they were either pirates or had something to do with or against the Spanish-Navy (they were not allowed to dis-embark). We must be related becuase Antonio Loustaunau Andrade married Isabel Rosas and they had 7 kids (guess the names!) including Joaquin Loustaunau Rosas (our great-grandpa), Joaquin then married Dolores Taddei and they had 9 kids to include my Grandpa Jose C. and his brother Benjamin who fled to El Paso, TX where I now live. I think they came to the US because the Mexican Revolution was on and Ben Loustaunau did something to defend his parents from either the Federales or Pancho villa and a price-tag was put on his head. He later joined the US Army and fought during World War I and gain citizenship and education for my GrandPa Jose. Common names in the Sonora, Arizona, Texas area are Luis, Eduardo, Joaquin, Dolores, Antonio, Maria, etc.

Hi, I also know the same part but Iw as able to compile more info from the National Park Service and found records of the following:

Jose W. Loustaunau (three fingered Jack) is also the son of Joaquin Loustaunau from Malaga, Spain. Jaoquin was a navy Captain of a the Spanish Galeon which name was "Escupe fuego" coming from Chile and he arrived in Sonora around 1820-1840 and had 6 children whose names are Joaquin, Jose W (3FJ), Eduardo and others. Joaquin Loustaunau is the son of Bertrand Loustaunau from the village of Asaspt/Pau (mid Atlantique-pyrenees) France. Another son of Joaquin Loustaunau is Eduardo Loustaunau born in Sonora brother of J.W. and he adopted a full blooded native american Yaqui indian boy who was baptized as Esteban Loustaunau and it is on records in Hermosillo, Sonora. Our family has a long tradition and ancestry in the Sonora/Arizon area and even during and after the mexican revolution. My grandpa was born to Joaquin Loustaunau and Dolores Taddei and I think he is also Rosas. I hopethis also helps!

You may have already uncovered the information below but just in case you haven't...I have been doing research on my wife's family and ran across the Loustaunau name in a marriage to Ocambo VelezEscalante in1888 in Hermosilla. The Velez Escalante name can be traced back to Spain in 1800. One of the descendents of the Velez Escalante family married into my wife's Duarte line in Sonora in 1890. The whole works is in the LDS database. Make certain you look at Velez Escalante instead of just Escalante. If you need any more info let me know.

Regards.

Looking for info on Carmen Aros d. 4 Mar 1891 (male) in ForestHill, Placer, California. Was apparently married to Bartola (Acuña?)(female). Carmen's name was possibly spelled Aradoz also. Unsure of country of origin...possibly he was born in Chile, as most of those he associated with were born in Chile.

Other spellings found for this surname: Arata, Arratas, Aradoz, Aradze

Don't know right now. I'm on vacation and can't check my database immediately. Will get back with you for sure about that, but I know that the Aradoz family went from ElDorado Co. to Butte. Haven't bee able to get much on them from there down, but there is a lady there in Butte who has contacted me about them. If you are indeed part of the family, then you and she would be fairly closely related. I'll check my database and get back with you.

I have a Robert Eugene Aradoz (the family flips back and forth between Aros and Aradoz or Aratas) b. 1948 who is the son of Francisco Melvin Lopez Aradoz. Francisco was child of his mother's first marriage to Melvin Joseph Lopez but was raised by Philip Joseph Aradoz, his mother's second wife. Does any of this sound familiar? I do know that there are some Aros/Arias families located in Calaveras County that we haven't been able to tie to our family. Perhaps your family is related to one of these?

I am the son of Anthony Aros, born in Taft California, now deceased since1993. He was the son of Antonio Aros, born 1900 in Ventura, who was the son of another Antonio Aros. I had a great uncle Henry in the Escondido area. My Grandfather, Antonio, had a number of brothers, Jesus (Uncle "Chew") his wife Tilly, another brother Raymond. My Grandfather grew up in Central California, but worked all over the place in the oil fields. Mostly they lived in the Bakersfield area, then when older relocated to La Puente.

My Grandmother, who was very fair skinned and light eyed, had French in her. She died early, in her 40's around the mid 1950's from Brain Cancer. Antonio went to Mexico some years later, when 60, married Rosa and had a boy, my uncle Ralph (13 years my junior! Frisky Grandpa). My Dad, Tony, had a sister who was actually born his cousin but raised his sister, Pauline. I cannot remember the family names at this time. My brother is better at it.

I am interested in helping get the Ca. side of this correct. My dad, Tony, had innumberable cousins all the way to Sacramento. We had no contact with anyone from Arizona, so I think that tie was long gone. Because of the Depression, the families got mixed up, taking care of children the best they could. That's why my dad's cousin, my Aunt Pauline, was raised as his sister. Pauline married Gordon Filer and they pretty much remained in Santa Maria and Pismo Beach area.
Anyway, it has been a mystery to me where all the Ca. Aroses came from and how they have dissappeared. Just helpin out here.
