My grandfather was adopted by Panfilo Arredondo, who was from Mexico and immigrated to the United States around 1900. He spoke only Spanish and was a preacher, started a church in Lordsburg, New Mexico. He adopted my grandfather and had other children of his own. His wife's name was COncepcion (maiden name Hernandez). I dont know where in Mexico they were from. He passed away arround 1971 or 1972.

this is the first reply i have recv'd. My father's name was Daniel Rosario Ramos. His mother's (stepmother)name was Galdina Arredondo married to Rosario Ramos my grandfather. My father had brother Manuel,Rosalio, sister Christina and step brother Jesus. Actually in my research there is question about whether Jesus was Galdina's son or her brother. I haven't been able to figure that out yet.Rosario Ramos (gf)had two brothers Ernest and Eufemio. I became very confused because i found 1930 census wife of Rosarios is listed as Conception Ramos, Jesus is listed as a son same age as Christina 8yrs.not ancestry member right now but you can email me at patriciacauthen@att.net

According to my mom he had two brothers and one sister. We have a picture of his sister and her family. Also, I believe his father's name was Juan.

Any information that you would like to share about the Arredondo's in Guanajuato would be appreciated.
Thanks.

My husband's grandfather's name is Bruno Arredondo, and he was from the Saltillo area. He lived in Monterrey part of the time. Bruno brought my husband's father, Jose, to South Texas as a child and he (Jose) lived on the King Ranch until he died at the age of 99. Bruno also married sisters (I can look up more information if anyone's interested). I'd be interested in finding descendants of Bruno's brothers/sisters, and in finding information on Bruno's forebears, particularly about when they arrived in Mexico.

origin of the Arredondo

The Arredondo name originated in the town of Arredondo in the northern part of Spain in what is now Cantabria but used to be a part of Old Castille, the town of Arredondo is South East of Santander Spain. While the Arredondo name is relatively rare in Spain it is one of the 1000 most popular Hispanic names in the U.S. and Mexico. The Arredondo's came to the new world and were quite fruitful. For those of you looking for Arredondo ancestors in Northern Mexico or the Southern U.S., Ancestry.com has Mexican Parish records that have all of the birth and death records for the major towns of Northern Mexico from the mid 1700s through the late 1800s. I have seen records for a Sixto Arredondo on Ancestry.com either in the Mexican parish records of the Texas Census records. For those of you who like me want to trace your roots all the way back to Spain, The Enciclopedia Heraldica y Genealogica y Diccionario de Appellidos by Garcia Caraffa is a very good place to start he traces the Arredondos from Spain to Mexico, Cuba the Dominican Republic and elsewhere in Hispanola. I was able to trace my mother's family line back to about the 1500s in Spain! You can find the book in various University Libraries, through the Library of Congress and through the Mormon Family History Libraries (which are mainly used by non-Mormons like me). Happy trails.

Unsure about where - all we know is that he was from that area and my guess is that she was from there too. The only possible documentation we have thusfar is a record of them possibly crossing the border into Texas about 1912. My uncle Manuel Arredondo Navarro was born in 1919.

Greetings - I also have Arredondo relatives that I wish I could track down. My grandfather was actually from Linares (last name Navarro)and was originally married to an Arredondo - my guess is from Linares as well - possibly first name Felicia or other name beginning with an F or P. They had one son together, though she died soon after. Grandfather was born around 1885, so I believe she would have been born around te same time or a little later.

Ask your father if his family was from the city of linarez. Because my dads family is from a little outside the city. Its a little part called Ejido Camacho not Camachito, my father also had family in Ejido Emiliano Zapata. But let me know i can still get information about family since i can get in contact with them in mexico. Saludos desde Santa Maria, California a todos los Arredondo

I agree with you. My mother's name was Elvira Arredondo Sierra. She was born in Morelia, Michoacan. Her father was from the Santander area. Her mother was French and had changed her name from Serre to Sierra. I cannot find out anymore because I do not know where to send for copies of records in that city or if they even exist. Jose Arredondo was her father. Both the mother and the father had married before. Maddening that I cannot find any records. Thank you!
