Thank you Diana, I live in Santa Fe, NM. I am 77 years old and I know that my great grandfather was Nicanor Bonilla and my greatgrand mother was Mercedes Guitierrez from La Capilla. They had children, one being my grandfather, Roman Bonilla who married my grandmother, Maria Munoz. Their children were also born in Cueramaro. My father in 1887, Mauro Bonilla, his older brother, Martin Bonilla and a younger sister, Alvina Bonilla (also my name.) Roman died in 1911, kicked by a horse he was breaking. He was 43. He was quite educated as was his father. My grandmother, Maria left during the revolution with her children. I hope you do get in touch with me PLEASE! Alvina

My father was Mauro Bonilla. His father was Roman Bonilla, his mother was mercedes Guitierrez and Roman married my grandmother Maria Munoz who were parents of Roman. I have other information if you find this might help you. Alvina Bonilla

Dear, I an am Alvina Bonilla. My father, Mauro Bonilla was born in Cueramaro as was his his Father Roman Bonilla. I KNOW his father knew the people there. He was 43 when he was killed by a kick in the stomach on a horse he was breaking. He loved to break horses for years. It was 1911. My Grandmother, Maria Munoz Bonilla left to California in 1914. Riman lived, with his father Nicanor Bonilla and his mother mercedes Guitierrez. One of them was a judge. Let me know if you can find anything. PLEASE!!!!

GOOD!!! My grandfather was Roman Bonilla. His father was Nicanor Bonilla and his mother was Maria Mercedes Guitierrez from La Capilla. (I guess this was in GTO) They, at that time lived in Cueramaro on EL RANCH DE PASO HONDO. I thnk it no longerr exixts. The connection is my father was the son of these two people. To them was born in 1887 to Roman Bonilla and Maria Munoz. He was Mauro Bonilla. Had a brother Martin Bonilla (older) and a sister Alvina Bonilla( younger) Maria lost three babies. I am Alvina Bonilla. My father was born in Cueramaro in 1887. His father Roman Bonilla was killed by a horse in 1911 and his son Martin Bonilla moved to Ventura in the early part of the century (1900s) my grandmother moved with the rest of the family to california in 1914 (the revolution) and landed in Ventura a few years later. Oh, MY GOD! DID YOU KNOW MY GRANDFATHER? He died in 1911, but I know that there are others in cueramaro who are related to me. I cannot find them. I am 77 years old, My father Mauro Bonilla was born in Cueramaro. Romans' mother was mercedes Guitierrez and Roman's wife, my grandmother was Maria Munoz. Please God, give me some information. In 1887, my great grand father, Roman Bonilla, was born to them. Then He married my grandmother maria Munoz. Roman was killed by a horse in 1911 and Maria left with her children to California. I have been doing and still doing research on my roots.
Albina Zuniga got married to refugio Arriaga. She, Albina,
is my great aunt, she was the daughter of Enrique Zuniga.
And you are right, she died very young. You and I are related because if she is your grandmother, then you and I have the same great grand father, Enrique Zuniga. here

Alvina. My wife Isabel, our son Raul I arrived to Ventura in 1965. we live on Warner St. and then moved to Center St.
by Ventura Ave., my wife and I worked for a Ventura head Start Center located at Wall St. and Ventura Ave. If you lived at meta and Vta. Ave. on the oposite side of the street,going to the beach, is where my mother in law lived,
and she went to the Old Mission School too. But must have been during the 1930's. I don't think I knoe any of the poeple you mentioned, but sure is interesting the two people from Cueramaro have walked the same streets in the same towns. love to hear from you. Raul

My ggrandmother was Maria Mercedes Guitierrez born in La Capilla, I don't know if it was in Gto or Jal. She married my ggrand father, Nicanor Bonilla and they moved to Cueraamo
in the Mid 80s. They had a child or two or three, I don't know but I do know they had my grandfather Roman Bonilla who married Maria Munoz, they lived in Paso Hondo. One of the children was my father, Mauro Bonilla. who was born in Cueramaro. The ranch must have been the town of Cueramaro because that is where Mauro was baptized. My father Maruo was born in 1897, but he had older siblings. Martin was one.

I became a Mexican citizen during the Clinton Administration. We have a home in Santa Fe, New mexico and a winter home in Puerto Vallarta. I met a nice woman through this space who will be in Gueramaro around christmas and my sister and I will be going to meet her. I know that the streets I mentioned, (I was born in 1934) have been changed since I was a girl. I will let you know about Mexico after I get back. alvinastar@aol.com

Raul, I went to Holy Cross School at the old mission when I was small, up to the 3rd grade. I lived with my grandmother on Garden street and I had been born on Meta and Ventura blvd. (on the corner) My Bonilla cousins were children of my uncle Martin who was killed by a train in1925. But he had five children. Martin Bonilla, Mercedes Martinez, Married names will be used. Cora Pozos, connie Quintina, Angilina Vasquez and Ester Beckel. Of course, their children are now in their 50s and 60s. Just wanted to see if you knew any of them.

I guess we are related some where. Cueramaro was small in the 1800s. My great Grandfather was Nicanor Bonilla married to Maria Mercedes Guitierrez. their son, Roman Bonilla married Maria Munoz they had children, Martin and Mauro.
Then Roman died in 1911 from a horse kicking him. One of the things he did was breaking horses. In his will which was done on his death bed were the names Manuel Losauno. Librado Lopez, Esteban Parado, Epeigmenio Remigio Atauaci Espinosa. These were the witnesses at the writing of the will. I did the best I could in the spelling of these people who had beautiful and artistic signitures. The places that are mentioned are Rancho se Eurcica in the district of the city Manuel Dobllado. Rancho De Paso Hondo (I think that is where they lived, My grandmother mentioned that often). La Hacienda de San Juan de la Puerta. It seems he left Paso Hondo to my grandmother and his children. Maria, my grandmother, left Mexico with her Children and left for California. Lived in Alhambra, then Ventura then Santa Barbara. She died in 1957 at the age of 92. Please, if you can, translate this and send it to your father. I would like to know if he or his father recognize any thing or any one and please let me know.

I have a home in Puerto Vallarta. We go for the Winter. We will be there in Octoober and stay until March. My sister and I plan to go to Cuerarmo in that space in time.

Hi, Alvina. I'm afraid I do not know any of the people you mentioned. I have only lived here in Ventura since 1965.
My parents' family arrive to Cueramaro in 1933 or so.
By the way, I became an american citizen during the Clinton
administration. Also, I just made a trip to Cueramaro (June 10th)my oldest brother died. He was born in 1935.
Cueramaro has changed a lot: when I was there all the house were made of adove brick. now all are made of red brick.
But the people are same, good people with great family values. Keep in touch. Raul

Do you know of any of my people? Bonilla, Munoz.they moved to ventura Martin Bonilla in 1905 or around there. His family was born there and still live there. My grandmother who was now a widow moved to Alhambra then to Ventura then to Santa Barbara to live with my father Mauro Bonilla and our family. I too was going to buy a home in Guanajuto, I am a dual citizen. I became a Mexican when Clinton and Fox made a treaty that any of us who had at least one parent born in Mexico could apply for citizenship. I did and I have a passport and from the Mexican counsel I have a registerd paper that says I am as much a mexican as if I was born there. I just bought a home in Puerto Vallarta where we will live most of the year. We have a nice home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. If you have any information please let me know.... Alvina

My father, Mauro Bonilla was born in Cueramaro in 1897. So was his Brother Martin, but earlier. My grandfather was Roman Bonila married to Maria Mercedes Guitierrez. My grand mother was Maria Munoz whos father was Bartolo Munoz and mother was petronila Hernandez. Roman, my grand father died in 1911, while breaking a horse, the horse kicked him in the stomach. He was 43. Maria and her sons left Mexico in 1914. moved to California. Landed up in Ventura then Santa Barbara. Hope this helps, hope you can help me.

My Grandfather was Roman Bonilla, died in 1911. His wife was Maria Mercedes Guitierrez, His father was Nicanor Bonilla. My grand mother on my grandmothers side was Maria Munoz. Her father was Bartolo Munoz, I think there was a son named Canuto Munoz. Others were Simon Sanchez and Vincente Munoz. They were from the second half of the 18oos. My father was Mauro Bonilla born in 1897. My grandmother, Maria moved with her family, sons, Martin Bonilla and Mauro and daughter Alvina to Alhambra, Ca. in 1914 from San Pedro,GTo then moved to Ventura, Ca and in 1944 moved to Santa Barbara California.

Hola, mi nombre es Elizabeth Arriaga, mi padre se llama Juan Miguel Arriaga, Y mi abuelo se llamaba Miguel Arriaga, nacido el 29 de septiembre, del 1919 en Atotonilco, el Alto Jalisco. Se dice que mi abuelo tuvo una relacion fuera del matrimonio con una senora que se llamaba Marta, dicen que tuvieron un hijo... y es lo unico que se, no se como se llama, ni si tuvieron mas hijos. Mi Abuelo se llamave Roman Bonilla, nacio en el ano 1887. en Paso Hondo, sus padres eran Nicanor Bonilla and Maria Merceses Guitierrez. Roman se caso con Maria Munoz, pero no creao que ella era de ese pueblo. Mi padre nacio in Cueramaro en 1897, como naciedon sus hermanos, Martin Bonilla en 1881 y Alvina Bonilla 1907. Tengo otros nombres de ese tiempo, pero como estas muy joven no se que tengas recuerdos. Yo tengo 76 anos and cuero saber de me.

Raoul, I, of course am highly interessted in Cueramaro. My family was Bonilla, Sanchez, Munoz. My father and my aunt and uncles were born there.
When the family came to the USA they settled in Ventura. On Palm ave by the beach and on Garden street, which is no more. I went to Holy Cross School until the second grade when my family moved to santa barbara where I had a wonderful childhood. I am 76 so I had the city when it really was Santa barbara, we grew up two blocks from the beach.

I now live in Santa Fe new mexico and write books and spend most of my time looking for my past. Yes I want to move to Guanajuto. I have a duel citenship. Mexican and USA.

My father, Mauro Bonilla, was also born in Cueramaro in 1897 to Roman Bonilla and Maria Munoz. Several of my Sanchez cousins were also born there in that same period.
Surely the families knew each other. If you want more names I will send them to you. And please, is you have any, send them to me.

I do not know you age so your grand father could well be younger than mine, I am 76. My father was born in Cueramaro, GTO. He was Mauro Bonilla born in 1897. His father was Roman Bonilla and lived in Paso Hondo, GTO. Mauro's mother, my grandmother was Maria Munoz. My great great grandfather came From Spain and was named Nicanor Bonilla (this, in the mid part of the 1800) He married Maria Mercedes Guitierrez. Now, my grandfather, Roman died in 1911 in a place called Rancho de la Urcia in Cuidad manuel Dobalado. He was breaking a horse and was kicked in the stomach, he was 43 years old. He had time to write his will. The witnesses were MANUEL SOSANO OR LOSANO, LIBRADO LOPEZ, ESTEBAN PARADOR, EQIGMENIO REMIGIO AND ATAUIACIS ESPINOSA.

I have spent a year and more looking. I did go to Cueraramo five years ago but got no where as I only had one day.

Please let me know any names you may have run against which may give me further direction.

After my grandfather died my grandmother and her childen including my dad, moved to Ventura then Santa Barara, CA where i grew up.

Esto paso en la mita del 1800. Creo que jente de Cueraramro sepan de ellos. Vivia My famila Bonilla en Paso Hondo. Se mudadon en 1914.
