Hi, Yvonne.
My grandmother was born Margaret Arundell O’Leary in County Cork April 15, 1885, probably the Timoleague area. I also know that HER mother was Mary Arundell or Arundel. The Arundells seemed to be farmers living in the same area as the O’Learys. That is really all I know at this time. - Frank

I am interested in Margaret Arundell and Mary Arundell of County Cork. I see that William Arundel was listed in this out-of-the-way source:

Flax Growers of Ireland, 1796 - County Cork
http://www.failteromhat.com/flax/cork.htm

The list includes:
Arundel William Lislee
Arundell Margaret

Edward Arundel (c1858-1916)

Seeking info on ancestors and descendants of Edward ARUNDEL, born abt 1858, England (possibly Brighton or London), father's name Robert ARUNDEL, master mariner. Edward married Mary STOKES, 2 November 1881 in Geraldton, Western Australia. Their children Edward William, Ernest Henry, Eva Ellen, Florence May, Frederick Neil, Edith, Hilda Mary, and Jean Mabel. Edward and two of Mary's brothers started the first saddlery business in Geraldton.
Daughter Eva Ellen ARUNDEL married John Duncan BROAD in 1905 in Geraldton.
Edward died suddenly in 1916 in Fulham, London, he had travelled by ship from Sydney to California, Jamaica to New York, then New York to Liverpool in the preceding few months. This seems a brave thing to do, since it was during World War 1.
My husband is a great, great grandson of Edward. Does anyone have links to or know of this family?

Dear Theresa Arendell-Worrall,

I was googling on my iphone for Arendell and saw your many entries and queries from 1999 thru 2002, but none since. Did you find out everything about "Arendell" with its many spellings, all the way back to Richard the First of Normandy?

My wife is in the Arendell line -- our youngest son's middle name is Arendell - he graduated form Arendell Parrott Academy.

We visited the Arundel Castle in 2007 -- have you been to see all the FitzAlan/Howard history?

My family tree is about Coopers from Georgia. But my quest is to see where my wife's ancestors and mine might have known each other in England.

Thanks,
Edwin Cooper, MD in North Carolina
<a href="http://www.edwincooper@earthlink.net" target="_blank">www.edwincooper@earthlink.net

Charles Arundel-1862 Va.

I am just a helper and thought this would be a good lead for some one.

1862, Charles Arundel. -Prisoner says he was born in Fairfax County, Va. Was arrested by orders of Colonel Robinson. Prisoner keeps tavern. Has a blacksmith shop and is a farmer. Never was in enemy's lines. Had had no communication with them. Was in Washington last January. Has not been there since. Did not know for what he was arrested. Was told by ex-Governor Smith who interested himself in his case that he was charged with selling whisky to our soldiers. Says he never did so. Picket was stationed, the officer and men took their meals with him, but he never sold spirits to the men. He was an original secessionist. Voted for seccesion from the beginning. At the last election of Confederate States went to Prince William to vote for Davis as President and for William Smith for Confederate Congress. Has a son in the Confederate army. Colonel Brawner and Mr. Thomas state prisoner is a man of good character, and was always a secessionist. I recommend the discharge of this man. H. W. Thomas, senator, and Colonel Brawner, representative from Fairfax, Prince wiliam County, proves he is a secessionist. Always voted the Southern ticket and voted for secession. Has procured provisions and forage for our troops, and has done blacksmith work for them. I recommend his discharge.

Dennis Segelquist
Civilian & Military Surname Searcher
http://www.civilwarthosesurnames.blogspot.com

I am trying to find some information on the parentage of Henry Kelita Arundel who, according to the UK Census, was born in Staverton, Gloucestershire, England, around 1827.

There were a number of Arundel families in the Gloucester area at this time and I think I have been side-tracked on to the wrong branch while trying to further research on dear old Henry.

What I know?

Henry married Sarah DAVIS in Gloucester in 1858 and they had at least 3 children. I have found William Henry, b.1856, George Kelita, b.1863, d.1863 :-), and Alfred Hubert, b.1863, who is my great grandfather.

Alfred married Jane Elizabeth COLLETT from Harborne, Birmingham, in 1893.

Can anyone help fill any gaps please?

I am researching an Arundel (aka Arundle) family and have reached a brick wall. My grandfather's name was William Arundle (B:1895 D: 1974). His father was Adolphus Arundel (name spelling was changed by accident upon his discharge from Union Army). He was born 1848 and died in Colorado 1923. If you have any info on this man, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.

Thank you for replying so quickly. I'm still wondering if there might be a connection since I don't know for sure where Adolphus was born but it fits in that time frame. He also had a son named William, who also had a son whose middle name was William , who had a grandson whose middle name is William. Do you know if yours might have had any relatives who came to the US in that era?

He died in Colorado. He had a son, William, born 1895 in Colorado. If any of this fits into your research somewhere, I would sure appreciate hearing from you.
