Looking for information on an INGEBORG AUST. The only information i have is that she was from a 'Harz village in the Harz mountains (Germany)' With a daughter named ULRIKA born in 1947.

I have an ancestor JOHN (JACK) TAYLOR who is the father of ULRIKA but sadly left the family and came back to england after Ingeborg's husband returned from war after being said to be dead.

Also I know that Ingeborg was said to be a pianist maybe in concerts.

response to past posts concerning my original one in 2000.

It has been a long while since I visited this site. Soon to be 12 years. My mother, Mary Evelyn (Baby Sister) Lavender Neal Russell, died May 23, 2006. she was the person most interested in finding information on her maternal grandmother. I actually had forgotten that I had posted anything. It was one of the great sadnesses in her life that she did not know everything about her grandmother. to all who were kind enough to comment, I would like to visit with all of you on our perhaps mutual ancestors. I will soon have more time to devote to research. I have a cousin in Florida who also is interested and may soon join our thread or begin a new one. Hope you all have a Happy New Year. Take care, Carole

No pics. Anything would have been lost when we sold my grandfathers house with everything in it. Where did you go to high school? Who are your parents and greatparents? Right now you are anonymous. Any e-mail?

I have figured out my family to great great grandfather in Germany. But I don't know where in Germany. Actually Prussia. The Austs came into New York through Ct to RI. Then Paul went to Burlington Vt.

Clarence Aust owned Thayer Market on the east side of Providence up by Brown. Thayer Street. If Austs still own it they would possibly know more. Those are the austs in Johnston and Smithfield. They are related.

My mother said after WWII the family sent money over to Germany. Then someone went over and came back and said to stop. There were not any more Austs and the money was going who knows where.

Bill Rowell
wrowell@lycos.com

I don't know the woman who started the post , I live in Warwick , I've been going to the r.I. State archive's and found some of my info the don't have some things on line My 3rd grategrand farther was rodolph and his second son was Otto he had 6 sons Oscar, Otto, Richard ther were born in Germany than Fredrick , Bruno , and rodolph they were born in n.providence r.I the baby rodolph died when at 7 months. The only Aust's that I found in Ri were rodolph , Paul j , Frederic c , and conard . Fredrick and Paul married sisters Anne and gertrude sandner . Paul's wife was Frieda harnisch all married in Ri rodolph married clementine schelske in breslaw Prussia it's now part of Poland . I don't know why they changed there parents name on there deth certs to john and Bertha but on there marriages they put what you have gottleib and Augusta I tried to get the records to see what her madin name was they didn't list it . My uncel found a record that said gottleib's first name may have been johann and gottleib was maybe his middle , it's tough to get any records cuz the part of the country they lived after ww2 was destroyed and after the Potsdam treaty it whent back to Poland the polish ask any Germans that were still there to leave but I did find a something rodolph's son Oscar whent to Germany to see famly but in bavaura in the 1920s , there must have been other brothers cuz there is a big age difference between rodolph and the nexet oldest brother . You wouldn't have any pictures of the four brothers ? We only have a pic of my 2nd greatgrand farther from about 1908 his dad rodolph died in 1903 .

We are related. My mother is Barbara Rowell nee Aust. Her father was Conrad Aust. Our family is from Warwick. My mother was wondering what happened to the other Austs. Do you know Heidi who started this string?

I have found some interesting info. We were always told 3 or 4 brothers come o America. One was listed as the passenger and the others stowed away Actually it was 3 brothers. Conrad, Rudolph, and Paul Johan. Their parents were Gottlieb and Augusta. The 4th Aust was Otto who was Rudolph's son. Paul married Freida in Pawtucket and they moved to Vermont. I have been to their house as a child. I remember Freida and Mimi who was adopted. She still lives there.

Any idea where Conrad is buried? My uncle knew but he has died.

Conrad's children were Conrad Henry, William, Gertrude, Gustav, Rose,Frederick who died young.

Patty, if you would contact me thru this board, I would appreciate it. What happened to Perse Nelson's last wife, Charlotte "Lottie" Edmiston Nelson? I don't see her in either AR marriages or on the death index. She is living in AR with her son Frank Edmiston, Lawrence County, AR in 1920. From there, I don't know. I do know that Perse Nelson visited Frank in the late 1920's because Frank's youngest child, at that time, recalled seeing him (his long white beard scared her). In 1920, Frank is using Perse's name so I have a good idea that Frank thought a lot of him. Some clue--any clue--might help.

I am looking for information on William David Nelson who, I believe, was Frankie's grandfather. Now William David, who was known as "Perse" married a lady by the name of Charlotte or Lottie. They had at least 3 children. There was a Frank born about 1907 in AR and a William born about 1905 in IL. On the census a third child had been listed but had not survived. My relationship to all of these folks is thru Frank Edmiston of Hickory Ridge, Cross County. Someone surely knows what happened to Frank 1907 and William 1905. In 1930, William is living on the rice farm with Frank Edmiston and family. William has a wife. There it all ends for me. What happened to Charlotte or Lottie? William David and she list themselves as widowed on the 1920 census but it doesn't add up. Possibly Lottie passed away in the 1920's but I can't tie that with any records in AR or a remarriage either. Did she and William D. return to Olney, IL together???? And where are their boys? Believe me, any lead would help. If Earl Nelson has any clue, please tell me how to contact him. Thank you, Phyllis

My Great Grandfather Leone Petrone lived in Rhode Island and was the Captain of a bowling team. On the team was a man named Fred Aust. They were part of the Silver Lake Bowlers.

I attached a photo I came across. Cross-Town Champions, The Evening Tribune newspaper, June 13, 1920. The man on the top left is Fred Aust. Perhaps he is a brother of Roudolph?

He's either my mother's cousin or uncle. I think uncle. My mother told me that he was a great singer who sung opera in New York City under the name Rudy Kaye. He also was very upset that my mother did not have him sing at her wedding. Our part of the family resided in Rhode Island. My great grandfather came to America on the ship Rigel out of Hamborg germany. Two or three brothers stowed away. So only my grandfather is on the manifest. The other part of our family resided in Burlington,VT. My grandfather was Conrad Henry Aust. My great-grandfather was Conrad F. Aust.

I know a Rudolph had returned to RI. His daughter married DiMezza who was our neighbor until he divorced.

Maree,

I am the great great grandson of George Aust who was born in 1816 and may have been Ann's twin brother. George married Rebecca Williams in 1838, their daughter Augusta Rebecca born 1845 married my grandfather Henry Kibby in Llanfrechfa, Monmouthshire in 1866. Are you aware that a James Aust was tried for high treason for his part in the Chartist uprising in Newport in 1839, the prosecution was eventually withdrawn.

Jeff

Hi Jeni

My great-great grandmother was Ann Aust who married William Williams in 1838 when she was 21 years old. Her father was William Aust who was listed as a mason on the marriage certificate. At the time of the wedding, the family was residing in Coombe Down in the parish of Monkton Coombe, Somerset. Ann and William's eldest son, James, emigrated to New Zealand in the mid-1800's. He was a widower when he married my great-grandmother in 1895 in Oamaru, New Zealand. For some reason, he was estranged from his English relatives, so we're quite sketchy on that side of the family. I'd be interested in finding out more about the Somerset Austs.

Kind regards

Maree

You know i remember my father speaking to granny bout perse.
She'd say "enough"! And it would all end there. And this is probably why i cannot get much information. Also i believe, from family hear say that the reason Lottie was seperated from husband was, she was abused. Now that was a long time ago, and you know how family history changes from generation to generation. I am not accusing anyone. Wow, you have a great knowledge of the Nelson generation. Would you be so kind and let me know of anymore you may have. Most still live in Arkansas, and Illinois. Most have passed of heart complications. Thank you, Connie

Frank D.'s father was, I believe, William David Nelson, born about 1858 or 1860 in IL. This family is shown on the 1880 census for Richland County, IL. William David Nelson married a woman named Mary Norris in Olney, IL. I think these were Big Frank's parents. By 1900, William David Nelson was widowed and he "remarried" a Charlotte "Lottie" Edmiston in either IL or AR. They had at least two surviving sons, William R. and Frank born in 1905 IL and 1907 AR respectively. William David Nelson's stepson by this marriage was Frank Edmiston. Frank Edmiston's youngest daughter told me she remembered her Step-grandfather's visits because he had a long white beard and she was afraid of the beard.
By 1920 Lottie Nelson is living with Frank Edmiston and his wife and stepkids. She is saying she is a widow but I know that that is not true because I found William David Nelson living with Big Frank elsewhere in AR. He is also listed as a widower.
I have never found a marriage for William David Nelson and Lottie Edmiston. I suspect she died in AR but can't vouch for that. Frank Edmiston was my husband's great uncle and his mother is ggrandmother. William D. Also went by the name of Perse Nelson. This also may be one of the Skeletons in the genealogical closet.
I am maggie Alberta Aust-Nelson's granddaughter. I have a copy of their marriage certificate. I also have a public family tree on ancestry.com. Franke Earnest Nelson was my Granfather. my father is his natural born son (Billie Wayne Nelson). He and my grandmother had seven children together, Frankie died from an infection of his appendix. Granny remarried a man named William Fry, he had children from a previous marriage, and together they had five children. Granny died on the family farm in Fontaine, Arkansas.
How is it, you are related? I am very interested, and need to know what you have, that i may not have.
Frank D. Nelson is my ggreat grandfather (big frank).

Sorry, but I don't have any information about the Bath Aust family. My husband's family were the Corsham (Wilts.) Austs. The two families might well be connected but this would be somewhere around 1400-1500s and I have not managed to get back as far as that! Have you tried www.familysearch.com - there are quite a lot of Austs on the IGI so this might help. Otherwise you could search the 1881 census for a married carpenter by the name of Aust not living with his wife and family and of the smae age group. Do you have the CD set? If not let me know & I can look for you.

Jenie

Hello Sue,

I don't have a Sarah Aust listed, but she is most likely connected somehow to our branch of Austs (a distant cousin).
