Thanks for responding! I don't know for sure if they lived in North Carolina. I don't know Eliza's maiden name or the name of her husband. She was a widow. So I'm stuck there. Not sure what happened to cause them all to pass. I just know grandma was a little girl when they all passed away. I wouldn't know who to look for in North Carolina.

I am related to the Austins in Tennessee. I've tried to look up Eliza on my tree but haven't found her yet. I'd be willing to bet that she's related somehow. Did any of your family come from North Carolina? There are quite a few Austins there, which is where my branch is from originally.

That sounds like Sarah Austin who married James C. Mount, only I have her birth as 12 July 1818. Pauline Austin has a lot of information on this family, and hopefully you have heard from her by now.

father of Charles Austin is possibly San(d)s H. AUSTIN, of New York.

Chas. Austin was born about 1863, and Sans was born about 1836. Both born in New York? That is what info I have gathered so far.

I'm looking for anyone related to Edwin Austin (2/22/1785-9/20/1847) and his wife, Millicent Thompson (11/5/1785-9/20/1840). By everything I've seen, they're buried in Cane Ridge Cemetery in Antioch, TN. I went out there last Friday and they aren't buried there. The cemetery was just formed in 1859, so none of it made sense to me. There are eight other Austins out there, and the main two graves are Thompson Austin and his wife, Mary. My great uncle , George, and his wife, Cassie, are there, as well as my great-grandmother, Mary Proctor Austin.

Charles Austin 3rd marriage from NY in WA 1912

Lucy D. IRWIN born in California in 1874, married Charles AUSTIN in Spokane, Washington Sept of 1912.

On this Marriage certificate Charles AUSTIN is 43 years old, white, WIDOWED, number of marriage THIRD. BIRTH PLACE is NEW YORK.

Name of FATHER, S. H. AUSTIN. Birth place of father, New York.

Name of mother, Jenny Wright. Birth place of Mother, New York.

On this certificate, Chas. AUSTIN's name is written three times, and ALL three times it is CHAS. AUSTIN, CHAS.

C H A S and then a period!!!

Lucy and CHAS. had two children. One boy and one girl. Boy's name was Edward Albert Austin. Edward was born in 1913, and died 1978. No children, never married. Never recovered from fighting in the WAR. Edward is buried at Tekoa, Whitman County, Washington, in the Goldenrod Cemetery.

Other People at Goldenrod, with the AUSTIN surname are;

Bess I. AUSTIN born 1886, died 1972.

*Edward A. Austin born 1913, died 1978. This is my granma's brother. His middle name is ALBERT.

Liberty G. AUSTIN born 1880, died 1957.

*Lucy AUSTIN born 1874, died 1962, nee IRWIN; this is my Great Grandmother, Noma's mother.

Robert S. AUSTIN born 1877, died 1952.

Stanley Howard AUSTIN born 1894, died 1971.

*= are my people. Anyone know who the other AUSTIN people are??? Are they connected to the other AUSTIN's buried at Goldenrod???

The one girl, is my grandmother. Noma Louise AUSTIN, born May 1915 in Oregon. Noma married a Hubert Taylor of Washington state.

No Taylors, that I know of, have any one named EDWARD or ALBERT, so I am presumming that those two names stem from the AUSTIN connection. At times I do find a CHAS. A. AUSTIN, and wonder if this is my guy. News from Grandma Noma, his daughter, is that Charles was a TIMBER CRUISER. And some where in the family is some of his tools used in that trade, or line of work. Was Chas. also a GUIDE of the Adirondack's of New York???

I have tried to attach the marriage certificate for Chas. and Lucy AUSTIN.

I would love to know more about this book, I have hit a brick wall with the Austin family. I had contacted a man whose since has died, who had mailed me a part if an Austin book, the part I have has that Slaves were in this family. The information I received from this man goes back to the 1700's.

I would love to have a copy of this book. I too have Austin's in my family dating back to the late 1700's. Which I had contacted a man who sent died, had sent me a copy of part of a book, and in the part I have there were slaves sometime in this family. There is son named Nicholas Austin who married a Maud Alcorn whome she died in 1920 giving birth to there second child whome died also on that same date. Nicholas never remarried and became a loner, staying here and there. He disowned his first child Lucille Selma because he blamed her for the death. I have a family tree that is started on here, if you would like to take a look. I hope this is the book I'm looking for.

UP DATE for the "Davis Harvey Kirsten Family Tree". This would be my tree in the forest.

Lucy D. Irwin was born in California in 1874. She was the daughter of Robert IRWIN and Sarah Jane SCOTT IRWIN.

Lucy D. Irwin married CHARLES AUSTIN in Spokane, Washington, Sept 1912. I will have to check for the day. The marriage certificate states it is a 3 marriage for Charles, and a first marriage for Lucy. She never married again. CHARLES, well still trying to find the rock he hid under.

LUCY and CHARLES had two children.

Edward Albert Austin born 1913 & died 1978. No knowledge of a marriage or children for Edward.

NOMA Louise AUSTIN born May 1915 in Terrobonne, Oregon. Noma married Hubert E. TAYLOR.

Grandparents Hubert and Noma Taylor are buried in Clarkston, Washington.

Lucy Austin and her son, Edward are buried in the Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa, Washington.

At this GOLDENROD Cemetery there are buried seven individuals with the last name of IRWIN. They are all my relatives.

There are also 20 people with the surname of SCOTT. This is a maiden name of my great great grandma, Sarah Jane Scott IRWIN. Will be look'g into to this.

There are also six people with the last name of AUSTIN. Two AUSTIN people are related to me. Lucy D. IRWIN AUSTIN, & Edward Albert AUSTIN. I will be looking into the others.

And I am just getting started with the cemetery records, at Goldenred.

Eliza A. Austin was born (if the age on her gravestone is correct) Oct 31, 1818. She married Andrew Jackson (A.J.) Selleg in New York City Dec 13, 1835, with a Margaret Austin listed as witness. Lived in New York state until about 1857, when the family moved to Kansas. Died in Hiawatha, Kansas Feb 10, 1874.

I hadn't found anything about her birthplace more specific than Virginia, but I recently came across a bio of a son-in-law that said she was from the Wheeling area... I've only been able to find one Austin family in that area, and it doesn't seem she was part of it. Certainly the bio could be wrong, and I haven't had much luck in surrounding areas, so I'm stuck.

I've been stumped on this one for a while and would appreciate any leads. Thanks.

Thank you! All of my family is from Roanoke/Franklin County area so maybe there is a family connection somewhere. :)

There is a large gap of info for Miles Austin from the death of his first wife to when he is found living with Milly Cooper.

I would love to find out if Miles Austin was the Father of Milly's children who all seem to have been born after Miles' first wife died.

It also may be that Milly Cooper was either half-indian or half African as she is listed as "Free Colored" earlier in her life. Trying to tie the Milly Cooper that lived with Miles Austin to the Milly Cooper that was connected to the Wheelwright Archer or Archie Cooper that was in the mental hospital.

I too am a decendent of Jerimiah and matilda through another son Silas. I have seen trees on here with Pleasant's tree. I have been trying to find a document that would verify that these brothers and sisters that came to Henderson County Tennessee are the Children of Richard Austin and Sarah Morgan. George Austin married Eliza Ludington 1826 in Catskill, NY

George, born 1803 in Sherburne, NY and died 1839 in Catskill. He is buried in Catskill Village Cemetery adjacent to his father-in-law tertullus. Trying to track his wife Eliza who was still in Catskill with 4 children in 1850. Found one reference to her death as 19 Aug 1855 ... but no location, no verification. Seems she is not buried with husband. Does anyone know?

I suspect that the Sally/Sarah Austin that you mentioned was my 4th great aunt Sally Hall Austin listed as widow of Henry Austin in the will of Robert Hall of Newport, Herkimer County, NY in 1842.

I'm looking for records on my grandmother (Dorris/Doris Austin) and her Austin relatives. From what I can see on the 1930 census, she was born in Louisiana and was living there with her mother, Minnie Austin, father, W.A. Austin, and sisters, Lois and Audrey. From the limited information I have, I believe that Minnie and W.A. Austin met as pen pals while he was serving in the military over seas (I'm assuming in WWI). I cannot find military records that are definitely his.

Please let me know if you have any information on this family.

I show Miles Austin as living with Milly Cooper (A free colored person) in 1860 censes. It is possible that he is the father of or Uncle to her children that were born in 1837 and later. They ended up in Brown Hill, of Franklin County Virginia by 1880's living separately with their respective children. Milly Cooper had a "free colored"son, Archer Cooper who died in mental institution in Williamsburg. There is a story written about it in "Sketches and Recollections of Lynchburg" by Margaret Cabell. I have heard that if a colored person was free before the civil war, then they might have been of indian ancestry rather than african ancestry. Either way, I would love to know more. I have red hair, freckles and green eyes and I believe that I am the great, great, great grand-daughter of Milly Cooper. She lived with her daughter Mary A Cooper in 1880 along with her grand-daughter Lula Cooper who married Shadrach Taylor. Does anyone else have additional info on Miles Austin from the period of 1836 and later?

The death record in MI give his parents names as David & Nancy. It has his death date as 13 Aug 1908 in Novi. I have also found him, I think, on the following census records 1860, 1870, 1875, 1880, & 1900. On the 1880 Census he is listed with him family, 7 children. including son Aaron W. ae. 2 b. Kansas. On the 1900 census his wife Phoebe states that she had 9 children and they are all living as of 1900. Why don't you write to me directly and I can give you the rest of the details.

What else do you know of Aaron?

I received his date of birth off of his tombstone that is here in Michigan, and that he was born in New York from a census of his son Aaron Wesley Austin which stated his father was born in New York, just don't know where in New York, and yes the William Austin that died & buried in Novi, Oakland, Mich is my Great Great Grandfather, I'm just trying to find out now who is father, grandfather & the rest of the Austin family comes from.

Are you talking about Hamilton County, TX? If so, you might also check Hood county. If Austin is her maiden name, check a spouse with the last name Peveler. If this is her spouse, she is buried in Fairview cemetery, Hood county.
