My husband's family is from Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. I am trying to find more information on his side for our kids. Jose's father was Refugio Ayon, and his grandfather was Juan Ayon. Does anyone know more about the Ayllon town in Spain? or the Ayons of Culiacan?

My grandfather had brothers his name was lorenzo and his sisters name it marita ayon and is still alive I seen her at a family fineral santiago was one of my grandfathers brothers and you have a beutiful big family

We may be related, my father was Santiago Ayon Medina and his mother was Vicenta. I don't have much information about his family b/c once my grandmother Vicenta we grew somewhat away from that side of the family. Let me know if you have more information.

hello my name is javier orozco I am also from Durango Mexico like your grandfather was, his name is Esteban Quiñones Ayon, Ayon on his mother's side my grandfather is from the mountain borders of Sinaloa and Durango i have heard all my life that my great grandmother was a Chinese-Mexican , but i have researched the name and it turns out its Spanish and French so now im confused let me know if u come upon any more information...

I am also looking for my great-grandmother: Natalia Ayon,
from either Cosala or Quila, Sinaloa. I estimate her birthdate around 1885 or so. She had three children: Guadalupe, Cindirila and Rodolfo all born around 1905.

There are indications that the name is jewish either from Toledo or Aragon. See:

internet linking the name to Europe, especially Spain and
France (and other countries through immigration).

Interestingly enough, 2 members of Cortes' expedition
were "Ayllon", see:

their is but its dangerous to say that last name in mexico cuz its involved with the mexican drug cartels theirs Ayon's in Sinaloa, MX and in durango, MX my mom refuse to put that last name on us to protect us when we go 2 mexico. Cities like culiacan, sinaloa, But yea their is very few Ayon's their IS some here in Los Angeles,CA West Los Angeles,CA and Paramount,CA we are all over california.

Hola Hugo, soy de GDL tambien. Y conozco algunos de Nayarit. Pero los Ayones que conozco son de Ameca, Jal. Un tio investigo el origen del apellido. Y habia escuchado tambien que, aunque vinieron de España, el origen es mas bien Arabe, de los Arabes que se fueron a España. Tambien, en España hay un lugar Ayllon, el cual esta incluso mencionado en la biblia catolica. - En el reporte del origen que yo habia heco, decia que Ayllon viene de hallar...

My grandmother was Marina Ayon. Her father was Lazaro Ayon. He passed away when she was 7 yrs. old. They were from Durango. I will investigate more and keep in mind your post just in case!!

I just posted some info about my maternal Ayon relations.
check it out - pj1mktg. before posting,I just looked up our family's name meaning on this site. More than likely, it did have many nationallity but more than likey, we are the French and Spanish meaning. Check on the search, it gets very detailed. Spanish is something about a beech tree I believe, beginning with a "H" word like what you were referring to. Denise

Hi Martha, My grandmother is Myra Ayon,the Ayon/Fraijo family were the first settlers of Irwindale, CA in the San Gabril Valley of Los Angeles County. Her father was Manuel Fraijo Ayon born on the family property in 1889. His parents were Tefilo Ayon and Manuela Fraijo. They were of Spanish/Mexican and Native American Ancestry. Some of the family attended the Sherman Indian Institute which I will be researching for information. There are other relatives in our neighboring city of Azusa. We have a family reunion every summer. After my great uncle died, his family moved to Alabama is which where his widows family was from. By the way, my Grandmother is expected to pass soon due to complications of cancer and diabetes which came on suddenly and has been a shocked to us all - she as always so active and sharp.
