Any one, researching Ayre in Co Durham, recognise my Ayre lot?

It's confusing as, although the name isn't that common, I think there is a very extended family all going round in circles around NE Durham esp the Houghton-le-Spring area...

I do have more data on Ayres I suspect connect to my tree but can't prove yet and this is growing all the time...maybe I can help even if we're not connected...

Hello Dawn. I don't recognise any of your names but my great grandfather was Richard Ayre, born in Sunderland, County Durham, somewhere around 1827/28 (I think he lied about his age on the censuses). He married Elizabeth Healey of Ireland and had numerous children all born in Houghton le Spring. My grandmother was his daughter, Elizabeth Ayre, born in Houghton le Spring in 1892.

Hi there : I am currently researching the AYRE family which was centred upon Stockton-on-Tees from [ at least ] 1808 - present time.

I cannot match specific names with your base info'.

There were a very large number of people called AYRE in 1800-2000 in that area. My family were Tallow Chandlers from 1808 onwards. Please contact if you need to look at my emerging "tree". JOHN AYRE jma.nci@btinternet.com

Hi Dawn,
George Ayre + Ann Hilton were my
g.g.g.g.grandparents, my direct line goes

1.George Ayre = Ann Hilton
2.George Ayre(1797) = Charlotte Cordner(1792)
3.Richard Ayre(1836) = Elizabeth Healy(c.1861)
4.George Ayre(1877) Dublin,(later changed his name to John Carr) married a Florence Mary Benford (when in his eighties).
They had 4 children together 2 died as children,
There oldest son George William Carr was my grandad.

This side of tree has been very confusing plus very interesting to do.
I'm in Northamptonshire,
We heard that Richard Ayre (1836) had a military funeral
and at some point there were photographs of this, relations have seen this photo many years ago - but now seems to have dissappeared,
Would love to know if any of the Ayre clan have seen or may have a copy of the military funeral of Richard Ayre, he died in 1916.
And also if there any photographs of any of George Ayre = Charlotte Cordners other children.

many thanks

tracey
