I can't tell if it is one of the Canadian boys. Nearest would be one of the younger ones in adulthood...shape of nose etc. Maybe get the photo dated when I next see an expert! Thought you might be interested to know that I have a copy of Jane(Blow) Bachelors death cert. Thought she had maybe died at 48 due to childbirth as children were appearing at regular intervals however its shows cause of death as Influenza. Husband Joseph was present at death and informant of death. He was noted as a 'Husbandman' on the death cert. Place of death - Little Grimsby. Have misplaced copy (with 2 others but when it surfaces I will scan it onto Jane on my tree and you could copy it? Regards Barbara

Fanny Bachelor was my Great Grandmother. I have been a couple of time to Little Grimsby and seen the beautiful little white church there. Couldn't find any Bachelor graves though. Fascintated to find that Joseph Senior was a church warden there.
So far I haven't been able to find Joseph Bachelor's (1730) birth details at Lincolnshire Archives. Would be interested to hear if anyone has any clues?
I have a large photo album that belonged to my Grandmother (Fanny's daughter Annie Elizabeth Hyde). There is a photo of a man wearing a smart outfit including a fur cape and hat. The photo says Quebec Canada on the back...if only they had written some names too. I'm sure some of the people in the album must be Aunts, Uncles and cousins but I can't identify them as yet.
Another of Fanny's daughters (Mary Jane Hyde) gave birth to a child, Albert,in Cottingham and according to the birth certificate Jane (Bachelor)Stather was present at the birth and when Mary Jane died the same day she gave birth Tom William Stather reported her death.
My mother lived in Cottingham all her life and knew the Stather's were related.
I don't know if any of the above is of interest?
Kind Regards,
Barbara
It seems our grandmothers were cousins! Mine was Martha Stather, Jane Bachelor's daughter

Have you looked at the photograph of Joseph Bachelor Junior, Fanny's brother, and his family in Canada? In my tree at
http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/38201216/person/19199114712...

I would think your Quebec photo is one of the men/boys in that.
Carol

I have a photo of Joseph and his family that was taken about 1900 to celebrate the new century, and sent to his sister Jane in England. The photo is here http://www.okusgoldens.com/bachelors.htm

Jane was my grandmother's mother. Her married name was Stather, and my Grandmother's married name was Martha Kellington.

Jane and Joseph's parents were also called Joseph and Jane, and there were 2 other surviving girls Ann and Fanny.
Joseph senior lived to be 83. He was born on 25 August 1799 in Marsh Chapel in Lincolnshire and after he and Jane (Blow) married they lived in a tiny village called Little Grimsby, not far from Louth, also in Lincolnshire. Apart from the manor house and the church there was one farm and about 10 cottages in total in the village. Joseph senior was Church Warden and worked on the farm.
Jane senior died when Joseph junior was only 4.
Joseph junior met and married Louisa Bond after he emmigrated to Canada They appear to have had quite a large family, there are 13 children in the photograph.

If I can tell you any more please ask.

Carol

My great grandmother's brother Joseph Batchelor/Bachelor emigrated from Lincolnshire England to Ontario Canada around 1870 where he married Louisa Bond. They raised a huge family in Manitoba.
I have a photograph of them, with their 13 children, taken around 1900 and sent to my great grandmother.
The children were:-
William John
Lottie
Annie
Nellie
Joseph
Gertie
Walter
Louis
Gordon
Hazel
Archie
May
Douglas
I know at William John moved via North Dakota to Renton WA where he also raised a family, but I lose them after that and have no descendants for the others. Lottie at least was married - she is wearing a ring in the photo, but I have no details.
If any one is related and would like a copy of the photo I would be happy to forward it, or if anyone can fill in more details I would love to know more about them. i can provide a full tree for descendants from Joseph (senior's) Sister Jane in the UK.

That has the wrong place of birth - joseph was born in Little Grimsby - its absolutely tiny about 7 houses and a manor house. No Bonds or Bennets there! Louisa was born in London and was illigitimate. Charlotte was not married till later. Charlotte came from Essex.

I just had a bit of a breakthrough! I found Louisa baptismal record in London!!

Name: Louisa Anne Bond Bennett Bond
Record Type: Baptism
Estimated Birth Date: abt 1857
Baptism Date: 1 Mar 1857
Mother's Name: Charlotte Bond
Parish or Poor Law Union: Whitechapel St Mary
Borough: Tower Hamlets

I'd no sooner linked to it in my tree when I got a mesage from someone saying that Charlotte was her great grandmother via a subsequent marriage in 1860 to Berthel Sorenson. This person had 'lost' Louisa after the 1871 census in London.

Carol

Yes it is confusing!
She states her father was John Evans Bennett, there is such a chap in the UK who died in West Ham, London in 1890. He was born in Broadhempston, Devon, England in 1821, so his dates fit nicely.
She quotes her Mother as Charlotte Bond and there is such a person in the 1861 census for Port Perry, which is where Louisa married, so she is a potential contender. She is with a John Bond who is 10 years her junior but there is no Louisa there.

The John Bennett in London in the 1881 census declares he is married, but there is no wife in evidence, only a daughter Matilda, so its possible his wife has done a bunk with someone else or is in jail/hospital. In the 1861 Census he has a daughter Louisa, his eldest daughter but she 1s 12 so a little old and his wife's name is Matilda but that could be a second wife of course.

Alternatively Charlotte could have been Bond before marriage, in Scotland and I think in France it was normal for the mothers maiden name to be included on a childs marriage certificate and it may have been in Canada also.

The only Louisa Bennett on the Canadian 1871 is a 12 year old girl with 2 younger brothers and no parents. There is no suitable Louisa Bond at all. So either She hadn't arrived or she is the apparantly orphaned Louisa Bennett who is also a little old.

There is a potential Louisa Bond age 5 in a school in London which suggests no living mother. Or either a new wife or husband who doesn't want the old ones children - quite common at that time. I suspect this is probably the answer and her mother had remarried and/or died.

If we could find the arrival in Canada it might help!!

Yes, I am a natural child of Walter Achibald. He had 2 girls by his wife and @ least one other girl besides myself.
@ one time I had narrowed Louisa Bond down to 2 people. One was in pauper prison.
Have you looked @ Louisa marriage record on line? Was Joseph her only marrige? Was her mothers maiden name actually Bennett. Is her mother married to John Bond? It has gotten me confused!

Will was William John who married Ethel Alice Vincent. I don't have full names for the others yet. I have a family photo of Joseph and Louisa with all of their children which I can email a copy of to you if you let me have an email address. You can contact me on okusgold@msn.com.
Joseph was the youngest son of Joseph Bachelor and Jane Blow. Joseph senior lived well into his 90s in the very small hamlet of Little Grimsby, where Joseph junior and Jane junior (my great grandmother were born, which is only a few miles from where I now live. I also have a photo of the church there, where Joseph senior was also church warden.

You can find the family tree at
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/4156242/person/-1645513709
Carol

Looking for any further info on this family. Did the daughters ever marry? Would like death dates if possible. Thanks in advance,
Judy

1.	Edwin Proctor Gilson-1[1, 2, 3]. Baptism on Nov 01, 1812 in Putney, Windham, Vermont, USA. He was born Abt. Nov 01, 1812 in Putney, Windham, Vermont, USA [4]. I must first assue that it was error placed in the data base. If that were the case, then the children wouldn't have existed and he wouldn't have been listed in the subsequent censuses.
Bachelors of Hamilton & Butler Counties in Ohio

I am researching a family called Skillman who intermarried on several occasions with the Bachelor family. The two families lived in Hamilton and Butler Counties in Ohio. A William Bachelor married Louisa Jane Skillman in 1848. They had one daughter, that I am aware of, named Rose. After Louisa died, William married her sister Anna Catherine. Anna Catherine Skillman had married Boulton Harrison Parsons in 1838. They had one daughter named Drucilla Rose Parsons (she eventually married William Llewellyn). Mr. Parsons apparently died very early on (information about him is very scarce). Anna Catherine Skillman Parsons Bachelor died about 1892 according to my information. I'd like to confirm that. Is anyone familiar with these families?

My great-grand father was Andrew Jackson Bachelor or A.J. Bachelor as my great aunt called him from Georgia. The dates are similar and I wonder if it could be Sarah's brother. He was married to my great-grandmother Mattie, who was born in 1872. I don't know her maiden name, but their first child was born September 24, 1890, named Alice Ophelia Bachelor. If any of this can help, or if you have any information that could help me please feel free to e-mail mwe at mbachelor0703@nacc.edu. Good Luck with your search.
Do you happen to have any information on Consider and Susannah's daughter Abigail. I beleive she married Samuel Batcheler (aslo seen as Batcheller) who was born in Rhode Island in 1795 and died in Oceola, Michigan in 1881. I am trying to make a connection with one of Samuel and Abigail Batcheler's sons on a Oceola, Michigan census record and if I am correct I would love any information you would be willing to share about Consider and Susannah Bachelor. Thanks.

Hello. Ola Bacheler is my great great great grandmother Nettie (Bacheler) Hauswirth's half brother. I've been doing quite a bit of research on this family and would love to swap information. The photos are great, do you happen to have larger scans of them or photos of any of the other Bachelers in Idaho? Also trying to trace the Bacheler line back farther than Ola and Nettie, drop me an e-mail at JDJames89@aol.com if you're interested. Thanks.

I am looking for a ALICE BACHELOR/BATCHELOR born abt 1918. According to the 1920 PA census, Alice was Illegitimate daughter of MAUD BACHELOR/BATCHELOR. Apparently Maud married after this to a person with the last name of FARMER. Any info would be appreciated.
