Badge, Mary from New York

I have census records for Mary. The name looks like Bodgn and as best as I, and others, can decipher we think it is Badge. She was born abt. 1831 and was from New York. She Married a MANN (from Indiana) they had two children in Iowa (Mary 24 Dec 1857 & Henry abt 1861). As well they had two others in Indiana (Alice abt 1867 & James abt 1869) I know that her parents were from New York. Mary's daughter Mary Jane Mann married my GG Grandfather Albert Bentley. I thank any who can help on this.
Richard Bentley
cagedraptor@yahoo.com

BAGE & Variants DNA PRoject

Announcing the BAGE DNA Project for the surnames BAGE, BAGES, BAGGE, BADGE, BAIGE and BAGHE.

I encourage you to join today!

I am excited to announce that the Bage DNA Project has been established at Family Tree DNA, and it is ready for participants to join and order a test kit.

I have ordered my test kit to represent my family tree. Ideally, our goal is to have two distant direct line males test for each family tree.

The Y DNA test tells you about your direct male line, which would be your father, his father, and back in time. You must be male to take this test, and you should have one of the surnames shown. If you believe there is a BAGE or variant in your direct male line, although you have a different surname, you are also welcome to participate. If you are female, please find a direct line male to participate, to represent your tree.

I encourage males who order a Y DNA test to order 37 markers, if possible. If you order less markers, you can upgrade later, though this costs a little more.

Currently tests are on sale with a 37 marker test being $119 (about £60) and expires on 30th Sept so HURRY!

As the project grows, we will have many exciting discoveries.

Participating is an opportunity to uncover information not provided in the paper records, which will help with your research of your family tree. We will also discover which family trees are related. As the project progresses, the results for the various family trees will provide information about the origin and evolution of the surnames.

The goals of the project are:
* Discover information to help with our family history research
* Discover which family trees are related
* Discover information to help with brick walls
* Confirm surname variants
* Validate family history research
* Get on file a DNA sample for trees at risk of extinction of the male line
* Discover information about our distant origins

The test is a harmless genealogy test of locations on the Y chromosome, called markers, which are passed from father to son, typically unchanged. The test result is a string of numbers, and contains no personal information. You will be an exact or close match to those men to whom you are related. By also testing a distant direct line male in your family tree, if possible, you will validate the family tree research to the common ancestor shared by both men who test. In addition, the test result will tell you about your distant origins.

I have also established a General Fund, to accept donations in any currency via credit card. These funds will be held at the testing company, and used to help sponsor test kits for key males who are unable financially to participate. I encourage you to make a donation. Click on the link below, and then click "Contribute to the Project General Fund" on the left to make a donation. If you decide to donate, please specify "Bage Project General Fund" in the top box of the Donation form.

http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Bage/

Both males and females may also be interested in learning about their direct female line, which would be their mother, their mother's mother, and back in time. You would order a mtDNA test. For matches in a genealogical time frame, order the mtDNA Plus test.

I encourage you to join in our discoveries. Use the link below to order your test kit TODAY!

https://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=Y42941&...

Keith Bage
Keith@Bage.org.uk
www.bage.org.uk
BADGE in Hazelton, Pa

I am doing genealogy research on the family name BADGE. I am hoping that you can supply me with any additional information and/or direct me to other organizations that might be able to help me. Here is information I have so far....

William Henry BADGE was born in Cornwall, England in 1869. He arrived with his mother, Mary Ann Symons to the U.S. around 1871. On 19 November 1891, he married Clara Keuch of Hazelton. She was the daughter of Ernest Keuch ( b.1845) and Anna Elizabeth Bachman (b. 1845) who later married a Ralph Mills. Anna Elizabeth died in 1924 and is buried in the Vine Street Cemetery. Clara and William Henry had four children while in Hazelton-William Herbert (b. 1893); James Ernest (b. 1896); Ruth (b. 1897) and Mary Jane (b. 1899).

I have pictures of these people. I also have the newpaper obits for Mary Ann BADGE nee SYMONS and Anna Elizabeth Bachman (MILLS). I have two photographs that show Mr. BADGE standing in from of the RISING SUN HOTEL with his name on the shingle.

What I am requesting is any additional information or leads on anything related to this. I also would be glad to send you scanned images of the pictures I have. I want to thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
I am interested in finding out about Gertrude Badge b1870 in Greenwich UK. My mother in laws mother was her sister Susan Badge and there was another sister Elizabeth who married George Whibley, I am in contact with members of the Whibley family but no one seem to know what happened to Gertrude, it is thought she married someone Robertson, perhaps Frank?
Would welcome any information, thanks.

Oh yes please...thank you...
As I said previously....."George Badge b. 1818 in Devonshire,England & his wife Elizabeth (Betsy) Cole are our relatives. He is our first cousin 3 times removed, and Betsy is our Second Great Grand Aunt. Elizabeth's parents: Samuel Cole & Mariah Taylor are our Great-Great-Great Grandparents.
Matthew Oliver Cole, Elizabeth's brother is our Great Great Grandfather & Wilson Taylor Cole is our Great Grandfather."

Wilson Taylor Cole many years ago began the family's genealogy, and when our Mother died, now almost 5 years ago we "inherited" the information and photos of family members and have sought to continue the genealogy records that Great Grandfather started. We also have a photo of John Badge...(George & Elizabeth's son) who married Emily Fenn. We have a number of unnamed photos which may contain other Badge family members.
We would appreciate hearing from you, sharing information and filling in our records with information on George and other related family members.
Most Sincerely,
Patti Lee Gates
doog3@earthlink.net

I have found a Matilda Larcomb grave. She is on the stone of both my gggg grandfather and mother's grave Thomas and Mary (Calrow) Ward. Thomas and Mary Died in Aug of 1835, althought on the stone Matilda would have only been two at their death. This what the stone reads.Matilda J. daugther of E.P. Larcomb died Sept 29, 1855 at the age of 22y 11m 21d. I would just like to know how she fits in to the family tree weather she was adopted by the Ward's or if they were good friends of the family. I know she is not a daughter of Thomas and Mary for their last Daughter was named Matilda and she went on to marry a Pangborn. Any help is needed TY

Dear George,

I wonder if you have a continuing interest in your grandfather's surname. I have considerably developed my resources and since your information of two years ago, have been in touch with BADGE families ex Cornwell now living in Canada as well as many more living in the U.S.A.

I am in my 6th year of producing BADGE NEWSTREAM - THE FAMILY JOURNAL (Quarterly) and if you send your postal address will include you in the mailing list.

BADGE Genealogy has now reached the stage of being able to produce a CD of which there have been two trials versions.
Version 3 will be mailed to any who want it in several months time.

If you have any photos of your Great grandfather , Grandfather , yourself or ladies of the family, I will appreciate a copy. NOTE - a new ISP for me as above.

Noting that your great grandfather was a bridgebuilder, it will interest you to know that most BADGEs were occupied in the metal industries in one way or another - including bridge building, blacksmithing, wheelwright, coach builder, engine mechanics, auto mechanics or mech. engineers, civil engineers and the younger ones - electronic eng.

Trusting to hear from you - with Season's Greetings,

Sincerely

Walter BADGE
Postal - Villa 3, Savoy Mews,
37 Savoy Street, Port Macquarie 2444 Australia.
PH. 61265843776 FAX 61265843646 - e.m. above
