I know that this is an old message but I came across it when I was looking for information. Edward Badman who married Rebbeca Hess the daughter of Thomas and Mary. He is my 3rd maternal great-grandfater. He was born December 1838 and died August 1907, you can find some information using findagrave.com, this is where I found a lot of information. Hope it was a bit of help, I had been looking information too for his parents.

On 27 June 1762, James Badman marries Mary Connard. On 7 Jan 1765 William Badman marries Sarah Gallop. Both marriages occur in Compton Martin and are in the parish register. Both couples apparently leave the village, or join a non conformist church, because there are no more entries in the parish register for these two couples. If you descend from, or have information on either of these two famililies, I would like to trade data with you. Thank You. Will

I have compiled the Badman data from the Compton Martin Parish Register. I have added data from Yatton, and Wrington, in the early phase, and from Chewstoke, Walton and Street, in the late phase. Each item has been annotated, and family lines have been traced for those families which immigrated. If you have worked the Bishops Transcripts from Compton Martin, or the Parish Registers from Yatton, Wrington, Ubley, Chewstoke, Walton, Street, Meare, Sutton, Bishop Sutton, Chew Magna, and Clifton Bristol(Gloucester) looking for Badmans, I would like to share data. I am also interested in any data on Badmans that you have aquired from the Quaker, or any other Non Conformist Churches in these same or nearby villages. Thank You, Will

Hi there I'm looking for Badman family info. Sarah Ann Badman b.1843 in Yatton, UK married William Weeks b. 1840. Son William Weeks b. 1863 in Nailsea is my Great Grandfather. I seem to have some Badman's on my tree and there is some confusion... Sarah Badman is, I'm quite sure, the right Sarah. I have her parents as Henry Badman b. 1798/99 Sandford and Mary Fry b. 1798 Yatton.
I also have a Mary Ann Badman b. 1823 Yatton (she marries Charles Beacham and dies birthing twins in 1851)
Do you happen to know how these Yatton born Badman's are related? It looks like Sarah is from a 1st marriage to an unknown Cox 1820, but it seems strange that her name remains Badman..???
Any help would be appreciated!
Natalie: gnatalie@netidea.com

So, let me know what you have and I'll see what I can add.

If your line is that of Francis Badman who settled in NSW around the 1880s then your line connects to mine. Francis was the younger brother of Joseph Badman, who brought my line to Pennsylvania at the same time.

I still have most of the information though and am happy to share it with anyone with an interest.

The NSW line is directly related to mine and while I have no proof the South Aurtralia probably is as well. All the English Badman lines I've found so far sprouted in Somerset and moved out from there.

I descend from Elia and Elizabeth Badman b. 1822 in Walton. I believe his parents are John and Sophia, but have not proven this. Eli's daughter Emma will marry Charles Bacon in 1881. The family lives in Walton and Street, from the 1820's till 1900. I'm interested in hearing from any descendants of this family, or anyone who has information on them. willbacon@charter.net

Hi Jackie - the famous cricketer you mentioned is probably Donald Bradman - but he was born here in Australia. There is a bit of family history that he or his family changed their surname from Badman to Bradman because of the whole "BAD" thing.. I don't know if this is true. Donald Bradman was born in about 1910 and died recently - as a national hero!

I am just starting to research my Badman family history - I can tell you that my branch emigrated here from Surrey, England in about 1923 - a Henry James Badman, his wife Clara (nee Stirling) and their three small children. Henry was born in 1885 in England (registered in St Olave).

Don't know if we are on the same family tree or not - good luck finding out!

As far as I am currently aware (and I've only just started researching), my Henry James born in 1885 was the son of Henry James & Harriet Burrows or Borroughs, whose marriage was registered in St Saviour (Dartmouth) in 1882. Family oral history says that H.J(b.1885) travelled around before living in Surrey and then finally migrating to Aust. (NB his son was Henry James, also).

Don't know yet whether the Don Bradman thing is true - my grandmother is capable of tall tales.. :)

I believe I share your ancestor - my grandfather, Edward Walter Badman, was the eldest son (I think) of Edward and Alice Badman. A number of other things also seem to support this.

Certainly the ages match.

I know from my late mother (Phyllis, youngest daughter of Edward Walter Badman) that we had relatives in Canada. Indeed, I remember an occasion when they (possibly you too?) came to England to visit my uncles Ralph and Ellis, I think I met you all briefly.

I also remember a few years later (1978), I made a backpacking trip to the US and Canada, and arrived in Vancouver at precisely the time that you were all away on holiday (or vacation as I guess you would say!) - great timing!

My sister Jill told me that grandpa lost 2 of his 3 brothers in WW1, the other emigrated to Canada. I have yet to find out which one. My guess is your grandfather was either Alfred, Ernest or William.

Am I even close?

Best regards

Clive
In the 1910 US Census for Woodward, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania Benjamin and Amelia Badman aged 53 and 52 respectively are listed with two children.

Ernest aged 28 and daughter Jessie aged 24. There is also a grandson "Mervill" aged 10.

Benjamin and Amelia had been married for 32 years on census day and immigrated to the US in 1882.

At a near by property Allen Badman and wife Elizabeth are aged 31 and 30, respectively, and had been married 12 years. One son, Robert, aged 8 is listed. Allen immigrated in 1882. I assume he is a son of Benjamin and Amelia.

I am still looking for their arrival record. I know they arrived at Philadelphia and I had copied the entry, but haven't found it yet.

You might also want to try the link below.
